The story of the coronavirus pandemic is still being written. But at this early date, we can see all kinds of moments where different decisions could have lessened the severity of the outbreak we are currently enduring.

I'm waiting for the timeline of Pres Trump's COVID-19 lies.

Do you think the National Review would put that timeline together?

Or will they just continue their current deflection efforts? ;)

How is this a deflection?

#3 | Posted by JeffJ at 2020-03-23 12:43 PM | Reply

WHO said to call it CoViD-20 "to end confusion" even though independent media was getting film out of Wuhan in December from human rights groups and just plain residents. Corpses in the streets, tanks and troops moving in. I saw soldiers in biosafety-4 suits holding machine guns, army chem-war tankers with disinfectant sprayers working the streets. None of it made MSM, but ABC news had the pics and videos - they just released them.

@#3 ... How is this a deflection? ...

It looks to me as a deflection away from Pres Trump's lies.

Indeed, if the National Review really wanted to write a comprehensive article about the CONIV-19 lies, they would put the timeline of Pres Trump's lies, and China's lies together and compare the two.

What would be interesting to me might be that such an article would show that Pres Trump did similar lying to what China had done. That Pres Trump had done the same misrepresenting of the extent of the problem that China is accused of doing.

Indeed, a line of such an article could be changed to, "On today's menu: a day-by-day, month-by-month breakdown of Pres Trump's coronavirus coverup and the irreparable damage it has caused to Americans." and that statement wouldn't be too far off,

But the National Review would rather just focus on China, and deflect away from Pres Trump's similar actions.

Btw, so far as China goes, the cited article is pretty good. it just needs to expand its subject a bit. ;)

Just because Trump lies we don't need to whitewash what China has wrought on the planet.

@#6 ... Just because Trump lies we don't need to whitewash what China has wrought on the planet. ...

I never said we did.

I'm just saying Pres Trump's lied to minimize the crisis here, just as China lied to minimize the crisis in China.

And, I am now adding that these lies about the COVID-19 crisis by Pres Trump go far beyond his usual serial prevarications, so I wouldn't say "Just because Trump lies" as you did.

What makes you think it's propaganda?

Also, when do you EVER read sources that are anything other than left wing?

Lastly, here was Lamplighter's assessment of the embedded article:

Trump lies? China lies? What do I do with this? Who do I believe? Arrrrhhh!

Of course it is. You are trying to deflect responsibility for Trump's criminally negligent response to the Corona Virus on to China. Your bull**** is transparent.

When did you become so irrational? There are 20 other threads all ripping Trump to shreds for his handling of CV. This thread is about what China did. Here's a clue: not EVERYTHING circles back to Trump. The US is not the only country in the world. Trump is not the only leader in the world. It's OK to condemn China for their actions. They are the reason this has become a global pandemic. Condemning China does not equate to giving Trump a pass for his failures. That is a logical fallacy.

Strange you don't hold Obama criminally negligent for not resupplying the 100 million masks used in 2009....

After the swine flu epidemic in 2009, a safety-equipment industry association and a federally sponsored task force both recommended that depleted supplies of N95 respirator masks, which filter out airborne particles, be replenished by the stockpile, which is maintained by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

That didn't happen, according to Charles Johnson, president of the International Safety Equipment Assn.

The stockpile drew down about 100 million masks during the 2009 epidemic, Johnson said.

How about dwelling on what we now know scientifically... not that science matters to rwingers.

"The coronavirus did not escape from a lab. Here's how we know."

As the novel coronavirus causing COVID-19 spreads across the globe, with cases surpassing 284,000 worldwide today (March 20), misinformation is spreading almost as fast.

One persistent myth is that this virus, called SARS-CoV-2, was made by scientists and escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China, where the outbreak began.

A new analysis of SARS-CoV-2 may finally put that latter idea to bed."

www.livescience.com

It didn't escape from a lab because it wasn't created in a lab.

Cork,

I think you intended #25 for a different thread.

#26 | Posted by JeffJ at 2020-03-24 03:43 PM | Reply

Nope Jeffy.

I posted it for the "blame China" people, some of whom are pretty obvious in what they are not saying; that this was an intentional or a preventable event.

It started in China, but it could have started anywhere. What China knew and when they new it might be interesting reading after the cure is found, but right now it is mostly xenophobic ------------ and totally unhelpful.

The article is also a new thread.

Does that same logic apply to Trump?

There about 20 threads going at any given time ripping him for how he's handled this.

"It didn't escape from a lab because it wasn't created in a lab."

You're talking to people who don't believe in evolution.
They're not going to suddenly start believing in molecular evolution, especially when not believing it trolls the libs.

And, I know, you are fighting your heart out for him on those threads.

But, no, the same logic does not apply. We can get rid of Trump just as soon as enough people want to, the virus not so much.

- trolls the libs.

People who do believe in science and are just trolling are necessary to the success of those who don't believe in facts or science like our new Republican Know Nothing Party.

Also, not everyone who doesn't believe evolution is anti-science.... or religious:

"There is this strange supposition," says the American philosopher Jerry Fodor, "that if you're a Darwinian you have to be an atheist. In my case, I'm an anti-Darwinian and I'm an atheist. But people are so incoherent on these issues that it's hard for me to figure out what is driving them."

Right now getting rid of Trump asap would be totally helpful... and is very important to our future and imminently possible, getting rid of the virus not so much.

Waiting to talk about what Trump did, is doing, and when he did it isn't an option.
