Amber Phillips: Did Rand Paul go about his daily business as a United States senator as he was infected with the coronavirus? His office won't say when he took the test before he got his positive diagnosis. Some of his fellow senators' public comments make clear they think that, at the very least, the Kentucky Republican didn't use best practices under the very real possibility he had the coronavirus.

... What was Rand Paul Thinking? ...

At this point, one of the big questions in my mind is along the lines of the following...

Have Pres Trump and many Republicans (e.g., Rep Nunes, Sen Paul) been intentionally trying to cause illness to Americans, or have they been doing it because of their own stupidity?

So, in answer to the quoted question, I wonder if Sen Paul was thinking, meaning what he did was intentional. ... or not thinking, meaning what he did was stupid.

"I've never commented about a fellow Senator's choices/actions. Never once," tweeted Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) on Sunday. "This, America, is absolutely irresponsible. You cannot be near other people while waiting for coronavirus test results. It endangers others & likely increases the spread of the virus."

If he did continue to work while the results were pending, that would mean he did what health officials say not to do " in exactly the way the coronavirus spreads. Paul interacted with members of Congress over the past few days " which means at least two other senators are in quarantine " right as they vote on the biggest bailout package in history to prop up a U.S. economy that has ground to a halt over the coronavirus.

We know Paul attended a fundraiser in Kentucky last week (actually two weeks ago). Two attendees later tested positive. It's not clear how many people attended the event, which came a day before Trump issued guidelines to Americans to avoid gatherings of more than 10.

Paul's father, former congressman Ron Paul, wrote on Twitter as recently as last week that the coronavirus could be a "hoax."

Given Rand Paul's behavior, it's worth asking: Was he treating the deadly virus flippantly, too?

I'm jealous that he had a gym to go to, all others in the DMV have been closed for three-ish weeks

Dude's supposedly a medical doctor and he did this? What a douchebag! He obviously felt personally invincible and didn't give a ------ about his colleagues or the public at large.
Typical republican thinking. Selfish to the core. No wonder his neighbor hated him.Al ways showboating, but when it really counts, totally worthless. I'm not surprised he did this, he's a punk.

There is a third option. Not that he is stupid. Not that he intentionally is trying to spread the virus. But rather, Rand simply does not care about anyone but himself. In his mind the world revolves around him. He can do what he wants. Because does not care how it affects other people.

Very Trumpian.

They are GOPers, they are inherently selfish. They don't care about other people.

Who'd have thunk Rand Paul was the deep state trying to get ride of all those GOP fossils. Was this predicted by Q?

His guiding light is to ask himself: "What would Ayn Rand do"?

Rand Paul Defends Roaming Capitol Before Virus Results Returned

...Senator Rand Paul is defending himself after coming under fire for exposing other lawmakers to the coronavirus while he was awaiting his own test results -- which turned out to be positive....

Oh boy. look at the line of puritans above who haven't gone to the grocery store in a week and have no plans to do so over the next 3 weeks.

Paul deserves the scorn.
So did de Blasio when he went to his gym.

If you jeopardize people's health like that they may just ---- you up on your front lawn as you cut the grass....

Liberatarianism requires both a simplicity of thinking, plus arrogance. It's not surprising a person whose political philosophy is "every man for himself" would do this.

Considering Rand Paul's height, i'm curious if you can get COVID-19 if someone coughs on your knees.

"Resisting the fear mongers and cowards? Yeah, it's actually brave. These are my people and I'll always support any and every one who just goes about their life during this global paranoia period."

This video shows the police harassing Merovigan's people for going about their life.
And since this video shows the police doing what the police normally do anyway, the police are also Merovigan's people!

Interesting that Trump's extreme partisanship may have led to everyone on his side being infected. I wonder what will happen to the Dems.

Telling people it's brave to expose others to coronavirus while you're awaiting your test results is incredibly stupid.

Telling people to ignore the health warnings and go about their normal lives is incredibly stupid.

This kind of idiocy will cause a lot of harm. This site won't be used to spread it.

But did it troll the libs?
Then it was the correct move politically.

Social distancing is a virtue. All joking aside, I am trying to be conscientious about maintaining physical distance from all people I encounter. This needs to be taken a lot more seriously than it has been up to now.

Telling people to ignore the health warnings and go about their normal lives is incredibly stupid.

How about this great idea we we climb to 40,000 infected with 500 deaths?

"The guidance we're looking for unpacking is how the people who may have come into contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus, if they have no symptoms, [may] be able to return to work [and] wear a mask for a certain period of time."

Who said that? Mike Pence. Dovetails with Trump's press conference tonight and his tweet.

Thank you RCADE. I hate quarantine but until I have results from my test, which I somehow doubt Quest Diagnostics will ever provide, I am staying home. I hate it but it's my responsibility.
