#1 Whitmer estimated 70% in Michigan if nothing changes. Hence her executive order. These governors are all undoubtedly using worst-case scenarios as a bit of a scare tactic - to get people to do social distancing.

"up to 80% will get the coronavirus"

Cuomo's estimate is in line with the Imperial College Report.
And it's in line with the US Government Covid-19 Response Plan.
This isn't really news; it's been known for a week now.

Seriously?

Thankfully, no. She's not on the front line.

But I do appreciate your concern. Seriously.

So, care to guess what the lowball percentage is?

Since you obviously can't distance yourself enough from the gravity of the situation, I'll just tell you:
It's around 40%, for the nation.

What time frame do the 80/40 percentages cover... the entire life of the virus including warm months?

#12 | Posted by Corky at 2020-03-23 06:28 PM | Reply

Corky,
"18 months or longer and could include multiple waves of illness"
is the exact language from the "Assumptions" in the US Government COVID-19 Response Plan.

Sorry man.

"New York Coronavirus Cases Surge 38% Overnight to 20,875"

This is the result of increased testing. The county where I live is setting up two drive thru testing sites this week as are most other counties across the state.

This is going to get awful pretty fast. Not to be pessimistic, but I'm expecting the worst.

wtf?

No one is immune to the coronavirus. Most will get mild or moderate symptoms, but many won't. That's why it's always been about flattening the curve, so that 80% of the population doesn't come down with the illness at the same time and overrun the healthcare system--and the funeral homes.

Sorry, it's an easy media in which to be tone deaf.

Just look at Goatman... or not.

I have a place in a National Forest, can order food online and have it left at the gate (spray the packaging), mostly all veggies and fruits which apparently are not easy carriers and can be washed. It'll get a bit tiresome, but I always wanted to write the Great American Novel, so. *that was intended as humor, just so you know
