FTA: This is what he ingested:

ingested chloroquine phosphate

This is what Trump touted:

HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine.

Is Hydroxchloroquine the same thing as chloroquine phosphate?

I used to have aquariums and used chloroquine phosphate in my tanks. It says right on the bottle in huge print not to ingest it because it can be harmful and even fatal.

Goat,

What the article doesn't say is why the man chose to take this.

This may have very well been his inspiration:

Actor Daniel Dae Kim, who has had rolls in Lost and Hawaii Five-0, made news last Thursday when he announced he had tested positive for the coronavirus. [snip]

Today, Kim published a follow-up announcement on his Instagram page in which he says he's feeling much better and says he considers his doctor's decision to prescribe him hydroxychloroquine was a key to his recovery.

HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine.
That's from a tweet Trump sent out. Here it is, along with remarks:
twitter.com

I have to point out that Azithromycin is an antibiotic and doesn't affect viruses. Hydroxychloroquine

Actual transcript from the WH briefing:

"Now, a drug called chloroquine " and some people would add to it "hydroxy-." Hydroxychloroquine. So chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine. Now, this is a common malaria drug. It is also a drug used for strong arthritis. If somebody has pretty serious arthritis, also uses this in a somewhat different form. But it is known as a malaria drug, and it's been around for a long time and it's very powerful. But the nice part is, it's been around for a long time, so we know that if it " if things don't go as planned, it's not going to kill anybody."

Trump did not kill this guy, but his desire to get re-elected over all other priorities almost certainly did.

Does anyone on here really think that someone stupid enough to ignore written warnings on a product and take it without a doctors prescription found this drug without Trump pointing him in that direction?

And why did Trump tout this drug? Not because it has strong support as a cure for covid-19 among the medical community, but because he is desperate to paint a picture brighter than it is. If he moves away from a stringent US lockdown, as is now being suggested, it will not be because it is better for the health of Americans, but because his priority is the economy as a tool for re-election.

And why did Trump tout this drug?

Because it has shown promise ..

Not because it has strong support as a cure for covid-19 among the medical community

Not yet, they also have no cure or therapy, by your implication it can never occur or take 18-20 months ...

If he moves away from a stringent US lockdown, as is now being suggested,

By whom?

it will not be because it is better for the health of Americans,

Sure it is ... "health" includes feeding your family, doesn't it? Let me know if not ... cuz I spend alot of money on breakfast for kids.

If it doesn't we should shut down every welfare program in the country.

"Because it has shown promise .. "

And is this enough for Trump to tout it as " a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine?" It is, of course, if the objective is not the health of Americans but his re-election.

"Not yet, they also have no cure or therapy, by your implication it can never occur or take 18-20 months ... " -

I don't know if it will work, or if or when they will develop a cure. So to suggest, as Trump has continually done, that a cure is just around the corner is more re-election stumping.

"By whom?"

www.bbc.com

"Sure it is ... "health" includes feeding your family, doesn't it? Let me know if not ... cuz I spend alot of money on breakfast for kids."

It is a question of priorities again. Trump's priority should be to take whatever measures are required to keep deaths from covid-19 to a minimum. The economy should be managed with this as the priority, not the other way around. Are you telling me that the US cannot feed it's people under such circumstances?

We elect leaders to lead.
We expect responsible and somber advice from those leaders.
If you are a Trump supporter, you're going to give him more credence than others.
He is the President, and he is surrounded by the "best and the brightest" - usually, and according to him, he is now.
He's been corrected by Fauci, repeatedly - and his supporters that don't question him, believe him. More than believe him.
In an Ayn Rand world where everyone is perfect, full of self-esteem, have no fear and don't doubt their decisions which are all flawless, then each person's decision can stand in a vacuum, on its own.
This isn't that world.

People like Goatman enable this kind of crap from a worthless President and it has consequences. It comes from a place of no empathy, no sympathy, no understanding, no compassion, and no appreciation for the fear people have in this situation.

NYT piece previously cited:

"Only well-run trials could establish whether chloroquine was safe and effective against the coronavirus, Dr. Fauci said.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York announced that the state had obtained large amount of chloroquine and the antibiotic azithromycin to start its own drug trial.

Nevan Krogan, a biologist at the University of California, San Francisco, who led the new study, warned that chloroquine might have many toxic side effects, because the drug appears to target many human cellular proteins.

"You need to be careful," he said. "We need more data at every level.""

Trump to the Nation (and his followers):

"Now, a drug called chloroquine " and some people would add to it "hydroxy-." Hydroxychloroquine. So chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine. Now, this is a common malaria drug. The reason the markets are tanking is because they are DESPERATE for leadership from POTUS. The markets are as desperate for leadership as these dummies in this new story and the rest of the country. Hell people are projecting their hopes on Drumpf. Everybody wants him to lead like Governor Cuomo is leading in NY and Governor Newsome is leading in CA. They want POTUS to engage in straight talk, tell us how bad things really are and where we got from here. Instead, the snake-oil salesman and chief promises a miracle cure like his televangelist buddies and the markets rally a little, then the medical people are forced to shoot it down and the markets tank.

If Combover Quisling just owned up and admitted that: this response will be measured in months not weeks; we are trying to limit the number deaths that come with overwhelming our healthcare system this includes the deaths of young, healthy people; it this response WILL have a negative effect on the economy from which it will take time to recover; for now the best course of action is continued self-quarantine and social distancing; yes we were slow to get tests approved and to the market and I take responsibility for that (because a leader takes responsibility for anything that happens under his purview just like President Obama took responsibility for the bad roll-out of the Obamacare website). He should also say (and do) the following: The federal government is doing everything it can to secure needed medical supplies and equipment for the states; we have activated the military to assist with overcoming the current and expected shortage of hospital beds; we are working on a plan with the House and the Senate to make sure people will emerge on the other side of this crisis as whole as possible. If he did and said these things, the markets would likely rally because they had faith that the crisis was in good hands.

Remember that the Obama Admin lead the country through health crises with H1N1 and Ebola and yet still managed to hand off a very healthy economy and more than doubled the Dow in eight years. Drumpf's dithering and lack of leadership has managed to destroy that economy and destroy three plus years in Dow gains in a matter of two months.

What matters is what people that aren't as bright as those two hear when the President says, repeatedly, telling people that Dr. Fauci isn't correct. "Chloroquine (also known as chloroquine phosphate) is an antimalarial medicine. It is available in the United States by prescription only. It is sold under the brand name Aralen, and it is also sold as a generic medicine. It is available in tablets of two sizes: 150mg base (250mg salt) and 300mg base (500mg salt)."

Trump:
"Now, a drug called chloroquine " and some people would add to it "hydroxy-." Hydroxychloroquine. So chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine. Now, this is a common malaria drug"

and from the CDC:
www.cdc.gov

Looks like these folks took what Trump was talking about.

I hope the right does and antibiotics will work for COVID-19 treatment, but I have a hard time believing that an antibiotic, which is ineffective against viruses, and an anti-malaria drug which works by killing the malaria parasite (not a virus) are going to be effective against a virus.

The CDC statement on the anecdotal evidence may be found in the same CDC link above.

And I was right. Stacking lenses is a linear thing. However on that post (I remember it) you left out a very important part I cited. That a minimum 14 was needed to view the eclipse and two #5 lenses only gave the equivalent of a 10.

If you stack two equal value shaded lenses, regardless their rating or reckoning of rating, you will get half the amount of light through them. It is ridiculous to argue otherwise.

Therefore, dear sir, you are still incorrect as is the one who loves you so, Laura. Odd you tacitly support her claim in post 139 which any idiot knows is impossible.

#153 | Posted by goatman at 2020-03-24 09:57 PM | Reply

show your math to prove "two #5 lenses only gave the equivalent of a 10"

a number 10 lense according to the math has A =9

for the #5 lens x 2 that would be 2 x 1 5/7 or A= 3 3/7

Your 2 #5 lenses cannot even absorb 1/2 the light energy as a #10 lens.

#169. She's stupid. Trump never mentioned fish tank cleaner as a good idea. A quick google of a derivative of the drug that Trump mentioned shows it's only available by prescription. If they got a prescription from their doctor and he filled it without adequately warning them then this is on him. If they googled what other chemical compounds included chloroquine they went so far off the reservation....they didn't take the drug Trump was talking about. They made a jump from point A to B that they never should have made. I'd say she was delusional. She believed she got the idea from Trump but it was a belief untethered from reality?

How did they even know how much to ingest? They certainly didn't get fish tank cleaner at CVS. I've owned a few fish tanks over the years. They require certain chemicals and biologics along with good filtration and temperature control in order to create an environment where, in my case I had cichlids, the fish can even survive their environment. Each chemical agent - be it counter-acting the chlorine from tap water to chemically removing algae without harming the fish in the process had very strict measurements.
"Use 1 tablet for every 10 gallons of water" or "Use 1 ml for every 5 gallons of water". So what did this husband and wife do - guesstimate how many gallons of water they were? Also, the containers holding these chemicals have warning signs every where.

#194 Trump mentioned hydroxychlorquine and chloroquine, one or both of which are found in fish tank cleaners.

You seem like the kind of person who might not realize that when people without health insurance need antibiotics, they can buy a variety of antibiotics at the fish store. Perhaps you've done this for your fish when they get ich? Well, amoxicillin is amoxicillin, doesn't really matter if it's for fish or people. Navy SEALS used fish antibiotics from a local pet store when they came down with a respiratory illness while stationed in Kuwait if as well and had no access to medical care if memory serves; it was even in the New England Journal of Medicine.

So there's already precedent, albeit not a good one, for using fish products for human health.

That's yet another reason why her story checks out.

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, to "plagiarize" means:

to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
to use (another's production) without crediting the source
to commit literary theft
to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source

In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward.

All you have to do is type "tout" into Google, and then click the down arrow at the bottom of the definition, and you'll see this; emphasis added:

tout

1.

"Jim was touting his wares"
attempt to persuade people of the merits of (someone or something).
"the headquarters facility was touted as the best in the country"

"I'm not sure why you put "attempt to persuade people of the merits of (someone or something)." in bold, but I'm sure you have our reasons. And I'm equally sure they can be explained after you grossly contort the words and sentence (rather than read them as they were meant to be read) as you do. He neither touted it nor encouraged anyone to take it,

Not playing, snoofy.

But I will leave you with the transcript of what Trump said:

Donald J. Trump

HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine. The FDA has moved mountains - Thank You! Hopefully they will BOTH (H works better with A, International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents).....
Of course it's crystal clear that Trump touted nothing using the commonly accepted and unSnoofyized definiton of the word 'tout'.

Have fun, troll. Maybe you can find someone else to play snoofygames with you.

Have you ever put chloroquine in a fish tank?

#271 | POSTED BY SNOOFY

For 2 years out of college I had a 50 gallon, a 29 gallon and 10 gallon tank. I purchased all sorts of chemicals and biologics plus heaters and filtration to make sure that the only thing that killed my cichlids was my other cichlids - they are aggressive.

For about 8 years when my kids were young we had a 20 gallon tank. I didn't pay close attention to which specific compounds were in the various chemicals I put into my tanks but I knew which products were needed and in what quantities in order to create a healthy environment for my fish. Counter-acting the chorine out of the tap water was very important. Regardless of which product I was using the instructions were clear - "1 ml per 5 gallons of water". ALSO, the warning labels were everywhere.

How many gallons of water do you think these two people calculated they were in order to determine how much tank cleaner to ingest? Did the husband say, "I'm 50 gallons of water honey but you are only 20 gallons of water." Is that why he died and she did not?

Warning: Not for Human Consumption. For Ornamental Aquarium use only. Keep out of reach of children.
