Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

After he was tested for coronavirus, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) never informed his Congressional aides. The New York Times reports, "His aides had never been told Paul might have been exposed to the virus or had been tested for it, according to a person familiar with the situation, and some began to fear that they could have contracted it and spread it to their friends and family before the office began working remotely, days after Paul attended the fund-raiser. ... they were informed of Paul's exposure only minutes before their office publicly announced his positive test results."

Isn't this racist, blaming the germ spreader? We also don't know what Rand was wearing when he asked for it.

What's the Reich wing penalty for knowingly infecting another person with a potentially deadly disease? Death? That sounds a bit extreme.

Reckless endangerment.

Charge him.

This is the man who also knowingly went to a gym after being told directly not to for the good of public health. I hope Corona ravages him and his entire family, and he better pay his own way and not accept any federal assistance. Since testing and Care will cost $34,000 and his base income is several times that he should have no problems maintaining his libertarian financial ideals. This is also the scum that voted against getting federal assistance to the majority of the workforce. any assistance being put through will have Republican poison pills sprinkled throughout, they should be removed entirely from all authority, located at any one of their vacation homes and sealed inside.

No defense of Rand Paul intended but he's a Repub. How do we know he not just spinning a story to get his name in the news? (It's working)

It seems really strange that an MD would violate the sacred oath "Do No Harm." If it's true, then he should have his license pulled with a recommendation to see a psychiatrist.

This is a gimmick someone like Donald Trump would pull to milk for sympathy.

Rand is the definition of a-------. The stupid selfish penile growth deserves to be punched. They should pardon his neighbor, it's pretty obvious now he had it coming.

"The current guidelines would not have called for me to get tested nor quarantined. It was my extra precaution, out of concern for my damaged lung, that led me to get tested."

The fact that he had a damaged lung should have placed him high on the list to receive a test.

Thanks Paul, for demonstrating that many more Americans likely have had, or have, Covid19 than currently thought.

According to Pence he should have put a mask on and then gone right back to work. Trump sounds like he agrees.

From the website on what to do if "you are sick with COVID-19 or think you might have it, follow the steps below to help protect other people in your home and community"

Do not leave your home, except to get medical care.
Do not visit public areas.
Stay in touch with your doctor.
Call before you get medical care.
Avoid public transportation.
Stay away from others.
Limit contact with pets & animals.
Call ahead before visiting your doctor.
Wear a facemask if you are sick.

He has been a self-centered piece of filth his entire life. Why would we expect differently now? Because he grew up in a wealthy, privileged life he deeply believes it was because, somehow, he deserved it. Everyone deserved it exactly as much as he did but most did not have that experience.
I do't wish ill on him but I do wish he could gain an ounce of humility through this experience but I doubt he is capable of such.

BTW, Libertarian philosophy is evil, Ayn Rand's ideal man was a mass murderer. How can anyone value her words after you know that detail of her life. BTW, she retired on SS. Also, she was a piece of filth misleading so many morons that they have become a danger to democracy.

One more american showing his ass. This virus will cause all the pretension of virtue in american life to be exposed as the HORSESCHITT that it really is. At least the truth about people's personal morality will be revealed in sharp relief. The true Ashholes will have no cover anymore. If only the stupid had eyes to see. Sigh.

So he allegedly didn't have symptoms and allegedly wasn't exposed to anyone with Coronavirus but decided to get tested anyway and somehow got a test without allegedly qualifying?

Something doesn't seem right. Rand is hiding something and endangered people.

He was probably listening to his dad talk about how its all a hoax.

When the Invisible Hand comes for you and tells you it's time to get tested, you heed the call.

Also, you keep it a secret from everyone around you, just like a zombie bite.
Can't have your neighbors finding out you might be infected!

Ron Paul knows better than you.

The aristocracy is smarter than you. After all. They are the aristocracy and you are not.

What possible credible excuse can that arrogant piece of s*** have for not immediately self quarantining from the time he learned he had been exposed to the virus? And he's a ---- medical doctor? Are you kidding me? [...]

Libertarians don't have to warn anyone, it is on each individual to figure it out for themself. Did I mention that Libertarians are the lowest form of humanity?

Yeah! How dare they have a different political outlook than you! BTW - How many Libertarians do you personally know?

If I knew someone who

Thought they had enough of a chance of having coroanvirus that they got tested
Didn't tell me
Acted like business as usual for a week
Then came back positive

The only thing that would stop me from slapping them upside the head is getting coronavirus on my slap hand.

I mostly agree with that. The only difference is my anger would be more visceral. This is a rare moment when you and I are on the same page

A few things jump out at me on this, really big, glaring WTF questions:

1) Pretty much everyone is reporting that he went to the gym and pool after he was tested. Yes, this is an outrage, but it's really a couple of stories in one. The first is his dbaggery, but the second is that the gym and pool were still open. WTF?
2) A whole bunch of Team R were exposed to the virus at CPAC. Attendance at, or contact with participants of, CPAC should've led to testing. How many Democrats have it now, through exposure?
3) Team R sure is playing this out like they know something we don't. Do they already have a vaccine for it (and are waiting for the right time to spring it as an "April Surprise") or are they just that incredibly stupid? If the former, then there are a lot of people basically taking over America...the people who dumped all their stock before the market tanked, and are now waiting for the bailout to kick in. If the latter, then at least we've got some further validation that we've been right about them all along.

Either way, potentially infecting your staff without their knowledge isn't "personal responsibility." It's criminal endangerment. Defending the brillo headed quack just puts you in the same class of sleaze bag that he belongs to.

"BTW - How many Libertarians do you personally know?"

Quite a few, not that it is really any of your business. I have family members who say they are Libertarians though when their own children/selves need government healthcare they sure as hell accept it. LIbertarians are the world's biggest hypocrites. They claim to never need government but when they do they sure as hell access it just like Ayn Rand retiring on SS.
I detest Libertarians because they are basically completely dishonest. Their beliefs only last until life takes a turn they didn't plan for. Then they accept the governmental solutions Democrats have created for them and they are too blind to even see the irony. And yes, IT WAS DEMOCRATS who created every single thing that helps working people survive things like depressions and pandemics. Republicans take advantage of every single thing we've done, and I have no problem with that, but they don't ever acknowledge the basic dishonesty of their own ideology.
