Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, March 24, 2020

COVID-19 cases surpassed 400,000 worldwide on Tuesday while U.S. cases topped 50,000 as the virus spreads more rapidly across the world. In the U.S., the virus has infected more than 50,206 people as of 2:15 p.m. EDT and killed at least 600 people, according to Hopkins. However, the number of actual cases in the country is likely significantly higher, officials have acknowledged. Testing in the U.S. has been hampered by delays and a restrictive diagnostic criteria that limited who could get tested.

Pandemics are one of those sciencey based things that real men like Rand Paul don't believe in and real orange men like Donald Trump think were intentionally created to keep him from getting a second term.

As long as this is the case, future such events will continue to plague (see what I did there?) our country in far worse ways than they might have otherwise.

While it's always good to get as much data as possible, we do need to keep in mind that as the testing rate goes up so will the number of people who test positive. Until we reach the point where we're testing anyone who requests it, not just individuals who are symptomatic or who have been exposed to someone with the virus, we can expect these numbers to continue to raise faster than many expected them to. Unfortunately, at this stage, particularly because of the late and slow start of testing in this country, the only statistic that can be directly linked to the progress of the disease is the number of people who have died. Also, it would help to put the numbers into perspective if, along with the number of people who have tested positive, that if we also knew the total number of people who have actually BEEN TESTED, period.

Supply shortage, that's adorable!
There's a massive supply of vacant homes in America.
1.5 million (1,447,906) U.S. single family homes and condos were vacant at the end of Q3 2018, representing 1.52 percent of all homes.

Got tested Friday, still don't have results. We know they have been suppressing the unemployment numbers so I wouldn't be surprised that they are suppressing the virus numbers too. Sort of explains why they wanted private labs to process them.

Holy crap, what an idiot! - God

"Trust in God and keep your powder dry" is a maxim attributed to Oliver Cromwell, but which first appeared in 1834 in the poem "Oliver's Advice" by William Blacker with the words "Put your trust in God, my boys, and keep your powder dry!"[1] The poem is a dramatic representation of Cromwell addressing his army during the invasion of Ireland. Edward Hayes, who edited the anthology in which the work first appeared, calls it a "well-authenticated anecdote of Cromwell."[1]

The phrase means to "always be prepared to take action yourself if necessary".[2] Bergen Evans suggested that the phrase combined piety and practicality.[3]

The book of Proverbs offers up the same idea in Proverbs 21:31, "The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord."
