Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, March 25, 2020

After first downplaying the coronavirus crisis, right-wing media briefly began to take it seriously. But now that President Donald Trump has vowed to defy health officials and reopen businesses, his favorite pundits have settled on a new message: Let people die.

Trump has suggested that he may lift lockdown measures and social distancing guidelines by mid-April in an effort to quell economic downturn, even though health experts have advised against it. Conservative media immediately moved in lockstep with the president's new position. Now they're spreading Trump's new stance to millions of their readers, listeners and viewers - at a serious risk to public health.

At issue is what matters more: people's lives or the economy.

For the last few days, a chorus of Fox News hosts and right-wing commentators have relentlessly been focusing on the latter, dismissing public health experts and suggesting social distancing measures be loosened.

Worst part is that it won't work anyway. The economy is not going to magically bounce back even if you let people die, even if you let lots of people die.
Quit worrying about the economy, it is what it is, worry about saving lives.

They're okay with post birth abortions so long as it is for the Dow.

Pretty sure they are just OK with it when other people die.

Lets see some public suicides by FAUX-talking heads live on FOX news to prove they mean it.

I live in Germany, but it seems like everyone in the US is utterly ------- retarded. What's the point in closing down services that some of few use, while keeping open services that all use. Like grocery stores and gas stations?

Is there some underlying assumption that the old and the sickly are going to hang out at a bar, or go buy a new TV at Best Buy?

And...just from me...the social response of closing off grocery stores is what's going to result in revolt...and not the Bernie Sanders sort of revolt than many might be hoping for. More like the armed militia sort of response. Are you good with that?
