Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, March 26, 2020

"Dr. Fauci is one of the world's greatest researchers. He has a fantastic career; he is a wonderful human being. He is able to navigate very complex scientific and political issues extremely well," agrees [former CDC director Tom] Frieden. "But CDC is the country's public health agency. Fighting this pandemic without CDC central to that fight is like fighting it with one hand tied behind your back."

They do, I receive an email a day from them...

This should be taken down for its false headline.

Thanks for that tip. I found the link and signed up. Now let's see what info I get. I would point out if you bothered to read the article:

"This has never happened before. In the nearly 75 years that the CDC has existed, in every single infectious disease outbreak the country has dealt with, the CDC has been central. It's been at the decision table, and it's been at the podium," says former CDC director Tom Frieden, who is now president and CEO of the global health initiative Resolve to Save Lives.

The headline is correct. The NPR article is correct.

As to the assertion of email?
The vast majority of Americans aren't getting emails from the CDC.
The CDC doesn't have everyones email addresses in some database.
Your "I receive and email a day from them" has nothing to do with the headline or the article.
In fact, if it's true (which I doubt), it's only because you signed up for it.

If you want to sign up for HAN notifications, for instance, go to tools.cdc.gov

Now back to the actual article, which clearly you didn't read, the CDC is mostly missing in all that's going on. Fauci is NIH. Birx is the response coordinator for the White House for COVID-19. Not associated with the CDC. The head of the CDC has been been almost completely absent from the press conferences.

So... Trump. Amiright?

#4 | Posted by HeliumRat at 2020-03-25 11:33 PM | Reply

CDC?

We still haven't gotten a coronavirus Presidential Alert on the National Wireless Emergency Alert System.

He can't manage his own response, you think he can manage getting one out of the CDC?

There will be no Executive leadership on this; the best we can hope is something from Congress.

Trump's twitter feed is the CDC.

Drink Aquarium cleaner. It's the cure.

Also. Go back to work.

It's the
Centers for Disease Control.

Not the
Centers for Chinese Disease Control.

Plus,
Governors ought to be able to handle it anyway.

"Governors ought to be able to handle it anyway."

Yeah, like that psycho Abbott in Texas. Coronavirus is an opportunity for him to outlaw all abortions, even ones that are caused by taking a pill. I don't think his decision will stand very long though, thankfully.

Or the psycho in Mississippi.

At the beginning of the Trump "response" they muzzled public health officials to ensure all statements go through Pence.

Have to keep Orange Schitstain happy, after all. Can't have those nasty experts contradicting the stable jenius.

Who needs a CDC when we have a Stable Genius.

And pixie dust.

#10 You never cease to amaze me. All elective surgeries in Texas has been canceled due to COVID19. Abortions are elective surgeries. Goatman has cataract surgery scheduled this week, and it was canceled. Care to guess why?

"At a time when the nation is desperate for authoritative information about the coronavirus pandemic,"

Anyone desperate for this is just a person trying to instill fear or spread hatred. The government has already said to practice social distancing, adults already know that nothing can be done until a vaccine is created, and the CDC has everything you need to know on their site (that they know).

That's all we need to know about the pandemic itself. Anything else is just meant to make you click on links to keep those profits going for all the Con/Lib media outlets. Obviously there are economic issues but those aren't in the scope of this article.

"tRump is the star in this fiasco."

Only to people who hold nothing but hatred in their heart for people who don't have the same opinions as they do.

#18 - Trump's being pilloried because he's incompetent, not because he's a Republican. Bush had a near 90% approval rating based on how be handled 9-11 and focused on Afghanistan.

No.

Elective surgeries that can wait are being postponed in Texas.

Elective surgeries that are time sensitive are not being postponed. This includes things like genetic testing in pregnancy which requires similar methods.

In addition, Texas even banned abortion using oral medication at this time...which is not even a surgery!

This has nothing to do with Coronavirus.

"Why Isn't America Hearing From The CDC?"

Because Dr. Fauci has more credibility than Trump and makes Trump look like a fool in public.

I'm surprised Dr. Fauci hasn't been branded a traitor yet.

As Trump signals readiness to break with experts, his online base assails Fauci

A cadre of right-wing news sites pulled from the fringes in recent years through repeated mention by President Trump is now taking aim at Anthony S. Fauci, the nation's top infectious diseases expert, who has given interviews in which he has tempered praise for the president with doubts about his pronouncements.

"The president was right, and frankly Fauci was wrong," Lou Dobbs said Monday on his show on the Fox Business Network, referring to the use of experimental medicine.

(S)ome conservative and libertarian voices goes further " aimed not simply at proving Fauci wrong but at painting him as an agent of the "deep state" that Trump has vowed to dismantle. The smear campaign taking root online, and laying the groundwork for Trump to cast aside the experts on his own coronavirus task force, relies centrally on the idea that there is no expertise that rises above partisanship, and that everyone has an agenda.

Just as I thought. It's only a matter now of how to do it quietly and avoid the backlash. A forced resignation is usually the preferred manner.
