Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, March 26, 2020

The Trump administration, state officials and even individual hospital workers are now racing against each other to get the necessary masks, gloves and other safety equipment to fight coronavirus -- a scramble that hospitals and doctors say has come too late and left them at risk. But according to a previously unrevealed White House playbook, the government should've begun a federal-wide effort to procure that personal protective equipment at least two months ago.

"Is there sufficient personal protective equipment for healthcare workers who are providing medical care?" the playbook instructs its readers, as one early decision that officials should address when facing a potential pandemic. "If YES: What are the triggers to signal exhaustion of supplies? Are additional supplies available? If NO: Should the Strategic National Stockpile release PPE to states?"

The strategies are among hundreds of tactics and key policy decisions laid out in a 69-page National Security Council playbook on fighting pandemics, which POLITICO is detailing for the first time. Other recommendations include that the government move swiftly to fully detect potential outbreaks, secure supplemental funding and consider invoking the Defense Production Act " all steps in which the Trump administration lagged behind the timeline laid out in the playbook.

"Each section of this playbook includes specific questions that should be asked and decisions that should be made at multiple levels" within the national security apparatus, the playbook urges, repeatedly advising officials to question the numbers on viral spread, ensure appropriate diagnostic capacity and check on the U.S. stockpile of emergency resources.

When Trump lies yet again and claims that the government was unprepared for what was happening and that no one could have predicted such an event, let this stand as evidence of his abject mendacity.

The US bureaucracy's job is to anticipate threats to America and Americans while gaming out responses should such conditions emerge. It's the President and his staff's job to be cognizant of such threats and be prepared to respond as quickly and forcefully as possible to protect and defend US citizens' lives. On this score, Trump and his Administration are complete and total failures and now people are dying due to the ineptness of their lack of leadership in mitigating this crisis by timely following contingency plans given them beforehand.

You have Trump blaming states for not getting their own supplies while the Federal government has been outbidding them at every turn. And to me it says those supply companies are profiteering.

The US bureaucracy's been gutted in the past 3 years...

And staffed ("IF" it is) with inexperienced people who don't believe in a functioning federal government anyway.

"pandemic response playbook" left by the Obama team for the Trump team. It was, basically, "thrown onto a shelf."

That is just not true! More Democrat Lies! I am sure they put it to good use.

They used it to prop up Trumpy's monitor so he could see his tweets better.

The playbook was created during the Obama administration. Trump's ego is worth more than thousands of American lives.

To put things in better perspective: 80% of the deaths in Italy (pop 60M) are in 2 northern regioni/states with a population of 15M. New York City (8M) and the surrounding metro area with NYC (20M) will closely resemble Italy's death stats. Then the virus will spread to the OTHER 95% of the United States.

The week starting March 30th and April 6th will be so devastating in NYC (600-1500 dead DAY AFTER DAY) - all discussions of "packed churches at Easter" and "getting the country working again" will be laughed at with the comment - YOU go back to work.

On March 1st there were only than 34 deaths in all of Italy.
01809 dead March 01st to March 15th (15 days) 188 PER DAY
06356 dead March 16th to March 25th (10 days) 636 PER DAY
03000 dead last 5 days March (EST 600 PER DAY)
11165 dead in one month and no end in sight

Early April in Italy will be bad and then what? Spikes for Rome and Southern Italy are still to come in the future. Italy has more hospital beds per capita and more ICU beds per capita than the United States.

A pause of 45-60 days is the MINIMUM PERIOD FOR THE INITIAL SHUTDOWN IN THE UNITED STATES.

Forget the dotard and listen to the CDC and the Governors. The math does not lie. Innumeracy is deadly.

That's been the master plan all along, hasn't it?

"Destroy the establishment"
"Drown it in a bathtub."

It seems to me there's a method to Trump's madness ~ all the while trying to keep up appearances so he can get a second term.

If that's the case, the COVID-19 is a blessing in disguise to Trump, isn't it?

We don't even have to ask ourselves "why" any more.

Trump will cause many deaths without remorse or reason. Crying about how nobody loves him anymore.
Eventually people are going to notice that he is totally without soul or concience.
When that finally happens there will be hell to pay.
Think. NICOLAE CESCESCU!! DAMN.
