Trump teases new coronavirus distancing guidelines based on county risk

President Donald Trump on Thursday teased a new plan to reopen swaths of the country shuttered by the coronavirus pandemic via a targeted, county-by-county mitigation effort.

Where the ---- was this plan in January when Trump was being duped by the Chinese that they were dutifully working on containing the spread?

And learned something about MACKRIS tonight:

In MACKRIS' world, "teases" is synonymous with "announces."

Why is Trump doing Fifty Governor's jobs?

The virus will still spread to those areas from outside, the chinese are having that problem right now. They keep getting new infections from areas outside the perimeter of Wuhan, that were not cleared. This plan may fail spectacularly. With Trump in charge it almost certainly will.

There wasn't a plan.

There still is not a plan.

Just a "teasing."

I understand the difference, do you?

And that is before we even get into the health ramifications of Pres Trump's "teasing."

Get to work peasants, my private jet doesn't maintain itself.

Many of you will die, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.

Yet here we are indeed. And just where are we? We are at the point where we now have more than 100K cases and are leading the world in both active and total infections. Is this what Trump wanted America to be #1 at? We are at the point this week where my company is now finally allowed to run tests in our own labs which means our healthcare workers will actually be able to be tested after exposure and not just have to resort to taking a precautionary 14 day quarantine. Hopefully it means that we will be able to rapidly increase the number of tests we administer so the reported number of cases might actually start to match the reality.

It's about time that the White House has FINALLY done something other than downplay, call it a hoax and lie about having it under control. My company was finally allowed to run tests in our own labs this week which means our healthcare workers will actually be able to be tested after exposure and not just have to take a mandatory 14 days off work. It also hopefully means that we will be able to rapidly increase the number of tests we administer so the reported number of cases might actually start to match the reality.

MACKRIS, your 'The Coronavirus Cover-Up' thread was taken down. You had asked me to provide some references showing that we are looking to China's response and timeline, pointing to them as an indication that certain measures work.

Whelp, here you go:

"That is America in a few months."
Not likely.
If China is any indication, this will be over in less than three months.
And if not...we can't live like a bunch of scared rabbits forever.

China looks to repair its reputation
By Robin Brant, BBC News, Shanghai

China considers itself to be - very nearly - a "post corona" country.
In the last week we've heard Wuhan medics warning the UK and others that they need to do more to protect frontline health workers, citing the mistakes they made early on when some treated patients without wearing proper protective clothing.
But there's also been reporting in state media of the reported death toll in Italy surpassing that in China. This has been combined with some commentary from prominent media figures that has appeared distasteful, almost triumphalist.
At the same time there is a panic about the threat of a second wave from imported cases - travellers arriving from abroad. This has fuelled the view - right or wrong - that some other countries aren't taking the threat seriously because they aren't doing what China did. (Almost all the cases in Beijing that have been made public are of Chinese nationals returning home).

I am proud to be on this mission with all the brave men and women of the National Guard, healthcare workers and first responders who are truly doing God's work.
--- Governor Cuomo

The comments Gov Cuomo made in today's status report / press conference were simply amazing and inspiring. So far, i only see videos online, no transcripts.

Here's part of it...

...
This is an invisible beast, it is an insidious beast. This is not going to be a short deployment. This is not going to be that you go out there for a few days, we work hard and we go home. This is going to be weeks and weeks and weeks. This is going to be a long day. It's going to be a hard day and it's going to be an ugly day and it's going to be a sad day. This is a rescue mission that you're on. The mission is to save lives. That's what you're doing.

The rescue mission is to save lives. As hard as we work, we're not going to be able to save everyone. What's even more cruel is this enemy doesn't attack the strongest of us, it attacks the weakest of us. It attacks our most vulnerable, which makes it even worse in many ways because these are the people that every instinct tells us we're supposed to protect. These are our parents and our grandparents.

These are our aunts, our uncles. These are a relative who are sick and every instinct says protect them, help them because they need us, and those are the exact people that this enemy attacks. Every time I've called out the National Guard, I've said the same thing to you. I promise you I will not ask you to do anything that I will not do myself and I'll never ask you to go anywhere that I won't go myself. And the same is true here. We're going to do this and we're going to do this together.

My second point is you are living a moment in history. This is going to be one of those moments they're going to write about and they're going to talk about for generations. This is a moment that is going to change this nation.

This is a moment that forges character, forges people, changes people, make them stronger, make them weaker, but this is a moment that will change character.

And 10 years from now, you'll be talking about today, to your children or your grandchildren, and you will shed a tear because you will remember the lives lost and you'll remember the faces and you'll remember the names and you'll remember how hard we worked, and that we still lost loved ones. And you'll shed a tear, and you should, because it will be sad, but you will also be proud. You'll be proud of what you did. You'll be proud that you showed up.

You showed up. When other people played it safe, you had the courage to show up, and you had the skill and the professionalism to make a difference and save lives. That's what you will have done. And at the end of the day, nobody can ask anything more from you. That is your duty, to do what you can, when you can. And you will have shown skill, and courage, and talent. You'll be there with your mind. You'll be there with your heart, and you'll serve with honor. And that will give you pride, and you should be proud. I know that I am proud of you. And every time the National Guard has been called out, they have made every New Yorker proud and I am proud to be with you yet again.

I'm proud to fight this fight with you. I bring you thanks from all New Yorkers, who are just so appreciative of the sacrifice that you are making, the skills that you are bringing, the talent that you are bringing, and you give many New Yorkers confidence.

So I say my friends, that we go out there today and we kick Coronavirus ass. That's what I say. And we're going to save lives and New York is going to thank you. God bless each and every one of you.

...

Trump governs like he ran his "businesses".

Jumping from one scam to the next to cover the last scam.

Ambiguous up front policy backed by a promise that will fall through and will be followed by another failed promise to be followed by another...

Orangeman evil.

But we here in California really don't care what evil Trumpy says.

He did not close anything in California. Therefore he cannot open anything.

It is not up to him.

It's up to us.
