A Florida church was packed with worshippers Sunday despite a local "safer-at-home" order designed to help curb the spread of COVID-19, reports CBS Tampa affiliate WTSP-TV. A live-stream of the service at The River at Tampa Bay Church showed its crowded main sanctuary.

Louisiana church defies COVID-19 order, holds Sunday services

Pentecostal preacher Tony Spell didn't just stand before his congregation on Sunday in defiance of the governor's order to stay home: He leaped into the pews, paraded, hugged and laid hands on worshipers' foreheads in prayer.

"We're free people. We're not going to be intimidated. We're not going to cower," the Rev. Spell said from the pulpit of Life Tabernacle Church in a suburb of Baton Rouge. "We're not breaking any laws."

Scamvangelist Declares COVID-19 "Finished" After Commanding God to Destroy It

Televangelist Kenneth Copeland, who said last week that God told him the coronavirus would "be over much sooner than you think" (but still wants you to tithe even if you've lost your job), offered up what I can only assume is a magic spell this morning in order to destroy COVID-19.

There will soon be less Trump voters in those areas.
Natural Selection is a hell of a thing.

Who will they vote for?

#5 Irrelevant. What's important, apparently, is whether they blame Trump when they get sick. If they blame Trump, then you're not allowed to point out obvious mental deficiencies ala tank cleaner drinkers.

Those people could also be (criminally?) negligent if they get someone else sick. They better not go if they are aware they are sick especially if someone else knows they are sick. I would imagine there will lots of legal liabilities. Like if someone knows they have aids and then has sex with someone who does not know and they get it.

"Surely one of the joys of being alive is to continually learn, and question the world around you. Religion is a way of saying 'there is no possible way I could understand how all this works and I'm not going to try'."

You could just shorten that to "Florida Man".

#7 I agree, but it could be difficult to prove they knew.

So, so dumb. Why is the church even holding mass? I get that people want to attend mass but come on, find a work-around. Podcast a mass. I know Communion is a big deal to Christians but sipping out of the same wine goblet? Fricking dumb. It may be dumber than ingesting fish tank cleaner as a CV preventative.

I snarked that they are Branch Covidians, but I don't think they are idiots.

They are worried and their church is a source of comfort. They are also under the thrall of the preacher.

The preacher is the leader and responsible for his flock. He could have told people to stay home and pray, chat over zoom, call each other.
Instead he choose to encourage his followers to risk infection. I can only think evil motivations for his actions, he is acting like a cult leader. He should be in jail.
