Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, March 31, 2020

For a brief moment earlier this month, it seemed as if social distancing might be the one new part of American life that wasn't polarized along party lines. Schools were closed in red states and blue; people across the political spectrum retreated into their home. Though President Donald Trump had played down the pandemic at first, he was starting to take the threat more seriously -- and his media allies followed suit.

'They made a show of shaking hands, and complained loudly about the "stupid hoax" being propagated by virus alarmists'

So they don't even believe it's real?

This behavior implies that they don't believe what their eyes tell them when they see it live on television; that they don't believe the accelerating death count.

This is some powerful brain-washing.

I think this goes both ways. Yes, there are conservatives out there who think it's BS and an excuse being used by some state and municipal authorities to enact some temporary legislation and then try to keep it permanently. On the flip side is a mixed bag of old and young, liberal and conservative, who simply believe it won't affect them. These are the idiots who drive drunk, engage in wildly unsafe sex, etc...

If it's a "culture war" then here's a casualty. A pastor from Virginia, Landon Spradlin, had downplayed the seriousness of the virus and claimed the media was pumping out fear on Facebook died from Covid-19 earlier this week. He traveled to New Orleans during Mardi Gras to preach to partiers.

#3 That isn't 'goes both ways'. There are people that ignore experts on social distancing because they think the risk is small based on who they are. Then there are the mindless drones that think they are trolling the libs by ignoring social distancing because their side initially downplayed the risk and they would rather risk death than admit the wing dings were very very wrong.

Sorry, but you insult "conservatives" when you post nonsense like that. Science doesn't lie to us, it's the science-deniers who lie to us. Grow up.

The good thing about this form of conservatives showing their asses is it may kill them. Good riddance if it does.

I'm sure their families will understand that they just had to own the libs and get a few laughs from the guys at the country club. /s

I'm on week 3, with at least 4 more to go. What a productive time. I hope everybody is making as good of a use of it as I am.

I guess it was already pretty much my way of life. I've been working alone on remodeling rental properties for years. Since I rarely come in contact with others, I see no reason to change what I'm doing.

So...I'm not if you progs are complaining or gloating.

If it's a threat, you get to sit back and watch a bunch of old rich white people die.

Danni, surely you of all people will enjoy that.

Mean spirited ------ if ever I saw it. What a dumbass, I thought you were better than that. Actually,no I didn't.

For the first time in history, we have a "war" where the young people are relatively safe and the older Conservative generation are the ones being sacrificed for ideology.

Ironically, they are "enlisting" without even knowing it by voting in Conservatives who refused to prevent the spread or prepare for the medical needs and by refusing to social distance themselves.

Repubs are brainwashed to opposed liberals above all else. So if liberals say to social distance, then repubs must oppose social distancing. Otherwise, they are admitting that liberals are right, and if they're right about social distancing, what else might they be right about? Health care? Taxing the rich? Climate change?

Keep going to church and spreading the virus to prove libs are wrong.

Oh, please...apply some critical thought.

It's little different than the paradox between conservative's supporting abortion bans, and the actual outcome of abortion bans.

In the absence of abortions, more women are forced to have children and become dependent on government. Which means they will vote for the party that provides them with the most benefits. Which would be the Democratic Party.

In short, banning abortion would create more democrats. Yet conservatives (some, anyways) support banning abortions.

Yeah...so...standing up against increased taxes and MFA is probably the two things where conservatives are correct. You should have used a better example. Climate change isn't that great either, given that the climate has been changing for billions of years before the first conservative ever crawled up out of the sludge.

So you're on record saying that billionaires needed MORE money so bad that it was worth vastly increasing the national debt?

Serious question - do you think the current rate of climate change is on par with historical trends over eons, or has mankind seriously accelerated it? Let's see how thick your bubble is.
