Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, March 30, 2020

A Florida sheriff announced an arrest warrant for a controversial pastor on Monday, after the religious leader refused to stop holding packed church services amid the coronavirus outbreak. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said at a press conference that Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne is wanted on charges of unlawful assembly and violation of public health rules after flouting social distancing orders at The River at Tampa Bay church. Howard-Browne--an ally of President Donald Trump--has been an outspoken opponent of social distancing requirements, claiming his church has machines that can stop the coronavirus and vowing to personally cure the state of Florida himself.

At services on March 15, Howard-Browne encouraged his parishioners to shake hands to show they weren't afraid of contracting the coronavirus and vowed his church "will never close."

If he truly is a person of God, why stop at just curing the state of Florida? Why not others in the Country?

Now here's the thing, it will be hard for me to send tots-n-prayerz to this group of martyrs and murderers who blatantly terrorize their neighbors.

To all the innocent folks they go on to infect I send my sincere sympathy and wishes for a swift recovery.

Seems to me that if mortality were to be the fate of the victims of these premeditated Cristo Bio-terrorists, there would be serious personal legal, including possible criminal liability.

You know, like the laws which were enacted to protect the public during the Aids epidemic.

Could the Legal Beagles on the Retort give us an opinion.

Sanity! Way to go, Sheriff!

These morons are all over here, too. They're ignoring the distancing, holding "play dates" with their kids and other kids, demanding that they be handed their food/coffee instead of picking it up off the counter, etc. I wish this would only take them out, but they're inevitably putting others at risk with their own selfishness and stupidity.

#4 Yav,

My wife just read that a woman got arrested for going into a grocery store and deliberately coughing all over a bunch of wares. The store had to throw away $38,000 worth of groceries. She's being charged with larceny.

Seriously, what the eff is wrong with people?

They're fighting the hoax.

JEFFJ

I didn't read it, but I saw a guy at Walmarts pick up a T-shirt, hold it up to his chest for size, held it away at arms length and then coughed all over it. Then he folded it up and put it back on the pile.

I saw that with my own eyes. It's not "what were they thinking." It's was he thinking at all?

A statement on the church website from lawyer KrisAnne Hall ... said the restrictions on churches are a violation of the First Amendment's guarantee of freedom of religion.

Ms. Hall is in desperate need of a remedial course in First Amendment doctrine.

This clown told the media (and presumably his flock) that he had installed coronavirus-zapping machines:

"We brought in 13 machines that basically kill every virus in the place. If they sneeze it shoots it down like at 100 miles per hour and it will neutralize it in a split second."

This is of course absolute hokum.

It's a win/win/win/win for the pastor.

If nobody gets sick, the pastor is a miracle worker. (more money in the collection plate)

If somebody does get sick, they don't love Jesus enough (more money in the collection plate)

If the pastor gets sick, he's a martyr (more money in the collection plate.)

If the pastor fakes his symptoms and doesn't die, he's proof that prayer works and he's been healed by Jesus. (more money in the collection plate)

If pastors don't convince their flock that they have God on speed-dial, they'd starve to death.

This is outrageous. There is absolutely no reasonable excuse or explanation for stopping this behavior. Natural selection must be allowed to occur, or our species is surely doomed.
