I'm reminded that, with the Allies closing in and the war lost, Hitler still found time to chase down Jews in Monaco.

Global warming doesn't seem to be the existential threat we need to be most concerned about right now.

Wow. Pretty neat. Shifted the topic from Trump dealing with trivia during the Age of Plague onto something else.

People living in quarantine/self-isolation/safer at home/ are getting a taste of the "carbon neutral" lifestyle the Democrats and Marxists have in mind for us all.

We could all be blissful if we thought like Visitor....because we all know....ignorance is bliss.

So he can't accept losing in court and passes a law that all the manufacturers are ignoring for the higher California standard.Talk about useless legislation.

This is running government like a business. A failing business.

Can't address the structural problems, can't stop hemorrhaging cash... So they do the only things they know how to do.

This is like Enron's HR department updating the dress code, while the actual business itself goes under.

This is an empty gesture as California has more influence on car emission standards than the feds.

Trump is just made he is older, uglier, shorter, fatter and smaller than Obama.

Thing is if you want to export cars lowering emissions standards will probably make your cars unwelcome in other countries.

Yeah, we need to be much more concerned about... making vehicles less fuel efficient and more polluting???

I wonder if the coronavirus is a result of global warming.

"I wonder if the coronavirus is a result of global warming."

I wonder if people flying here from China contributes to global warming.
Anyone know?

Don't know how you people expect Trumpublicans to get more oil and auto money if they don't sacrifice the earth, water, and air to do so.

There are priorities, you know.

What does Trump have against Americans breathing? He and Jared must be starting a respirator manufacturing conglomerate. Everyone in America will need a Trump Personal Respirator by 2030.

A bunch of bull. Vehicles have only become more safe every year. The 2010s were the safest ever.

FTA:

Smaller, slighter vehicles get better mileage. But that hardly matters when a car smacks into a sycamore or slams head-on into another vehicle. That's when most drivers would trade lower MPG for protective layers of thick steel.

As if we're supposed to believe that if it weren't for fuel efficiency, car makers would be... adding more "protective layers of steel"???

Actually those smart cars are quite durable and safe in a crash. The only problem with those are is if you're big is getting into one. You either haue to use a long handled spade shovel as a shoe horn or lube yourself up with Crisco and slide in. That's all.

I dunno... I saw one that had hit an elk and the elk looked better.

Who needs clean air when there's a respiratory virus plague?

Imagine how safe cars could be if they didn't have to weigh 1500 lbs to get 50 mpg.

#23 | Posted by visitor_ at 2020-04-01 08:47 AM | Reply

Light weight is better for the automotive enthusiast. Heavy vehicles are for workers, -----------, and soccer moms.

#24 | Posted by BruceBanner at 2020-04-01 10:52 AM | Reply

I don't think auto enthusiasts are clamoring for 50 mpg+ cars.
