"Under CIAC's interpretation of Title IX, however, schools may not account for the real physiological differences between men and women. Instead, schools must have certain biological males " namely, those who publicly identify as female " compete against biological females," Barr and the other department officials write. "In so doing, CIAC deprives those women of the single-sex athletic competitions that are one of the marquee accomplishments of Title IX."

Hey, brilliant that they come out with rules about sports now that most sports are discontinued until further notice.....forever.

What about transmale athletes? Is the government's position that they should be forced to compete against females?

What about transmale athletes?

Good question. The answer is, I doubt it.

Becca Longo received a scholarship to be a place kicker for Adams State football team.

The thinking goes if a girl has the physical ability to compete against boys then have at it.

This was going to happen sooner or later. Allowing transwomen to compete in women's sports is very clearly a Title IX violation.

I believe it's in Connecticut where 3 girls have filed a lawsuit over this issue.

Title IX is clear. The only way to legally allow transwomen to compete in women's sports is new legislation.

"Title IX is clear. The only way to legally allow transwomen to compete in women's sports is new legislation."

Exactly wrong.

The only way to deny transwomeon -- who are legally women -- to compete in women's sports is to forgo Title IX funding.

#5 There is no way you can make the argument that when Title IX passed they intended for trans women to be able to compete in women's sports.

Laws aren't malleable like that. They have to be changed, repealed or counter-acted with new laws. That's how the process works.

Let's play this one through:
What did they intend?

"Laws aren't malleable like that."

Even if the law isn't: Gender is.
(You're not helping your case, but you don't realize that yet.)

"How do you legally become a woman?"

How did you legally become a man?

I know that I would prefer a women's prison to a men's prison if given the choice.

Yeah, they're probably gross. But not a gross as men's prison.

"How did you legally become a man?"

A "man" or a "male."

I don't think I can ever legally become a man...but I was legally born a male. Unless my birth certificate is a forgery. Given what's swinging between my knees right now, I think the birth certificate is accurate.

Title iv protects trans women athletes Jeff. Deal with it.

"Title iv protects trans women athletes Jeff. Deal with it."

It does not allow for them to compete in women's sports. The guidance that the current DOJ makes it off-limits (for now) and there is at least 1 court case pending.

From a legal standpoint I don't see how the courts will rule against Title IX.

"Laws aren't malleable like that."

The law addresses sex (biological), not gender. #6 still stands.

How do you think the actual women athletes feel about that?

#14 | POSTED BY MADBOMBER

Pretty sure she could care less. This is what she wants women's sports to be:

You've picked a very bad hill to die on.
These 50 state laws address sex (biological), not gender too:
CHANGING BIRTH CERTIFICATE SEX DESIGNATIONS: STATE-BY-STATE GUIDELINES
www.lambdalegal.org

For example:
Alabama
Statute: Ala. Code 22-9A-19(d) (2004).
Text: (d) Upon receipt of a certified copy of an order of a court of competent jurisdiction indicating that the sex of an individual born in this state has been changed by surgical procedure and that the name of the individual has been changed, the certificate of birth of the individual shall be amended as prescribed by rules to reflect the changes.
Notes: Amended birth certificates will note that the sex designation has been changed.
Summary: Alabama will issue a birth certificate reflecting the proper sex.

I'm not sure if asleep is the word the best describes those who are not woke...but I'm there with you. Thankfully.

Someday aliens are going to visit this planet and investigate how our species got so ------- stupid.

So...what does that look like in practice? Does it say "born a whatever (sex), gender (based on choice)?

When they go to prison, how is said prison chosen, gender or sex?

In practice?
It looks like a birth certificate with a F where the M used to be.
With the millions America has spent to educate you, I'm surprised you had to ask!

#7 | Posted by snoofy

I'm pretty sure they intended that if you were born with a penis, you are a male and if you were born with a vagina, you are a female.

But I'm also pretty sure they didnt intend on the dumbing down of people to actually have to argue about what's a boy and what's a girl.

That's nowhere in Title IX
But more to the point, that's not how Federalism works!
The link in #17 descries how to change the sex on your birth certificate -- how a "man" can become a "woman" -- in all 50 states.
www.lambdalegal.org
The states decide what is a man and a woman, not the Federal government.
All Title IX does is imposed certain rules on how Federal money is spent the States, on whatever the States say is a "man" and a "woman."

#28 | Posted by snoofy at 2020-03-31 10:40 PM | Reply

we need to indulge transtrendermania and have MORE 2nd and 3rd rate male athletes take "estrogen" supplements so they can compete against female athletes. let's put the pedal to the metal and show those double-x'ers that men are the best at everything, including being women.

We live in a world where gender isn't as simple as people thought it was.

It would be nice if everyone would accept this, instead of making it harder on people who are born with a brain that tells them the gender of their physical characteristics is not the gender they truly are.

I feel a lot of compassion for people in that circumstance and am happy to recognize them as the gender they live as.

I think the issue of sports is best decided by the sports authorities themselves. If they believe it's fair to let transgender athletes compete I have zero problem with that.

#31 | Posted by rcade at 2020-04-01 03:47 PM | Reply

I have no problem recognizing a person as whatever gender they identify as, but we must admit that people born as a male have muscular advantages over females. I just dont think it is a fair competition. So then where do we draw the line. Some men are petite do we start running competitions by size/stature instead of gender? I wouldnt have a problem doing it that way. We need to be as open minded as we can be but there is always a line in the sand and you cannot make everyone happy.
