The Trump administration is expected to announce as soon as Thursday that all Americans should wear cloth masks or other face coverings if they go out in public, based on a forthcoming recommendation from the C.D.C. That would mark a shift in federal guidance amid new concerns that the coronavirus is being spread by infected people who have no symptoms.

Face masks don't prevent you from getting the virus according to Dr. Brix. tonight. If you touch something containing the virus and touch your eyes the face mask does diddly squat in protection.

Stat news must have missed the live briefing today. And my all time favorite go to for confirmation is lines like this is the 'article': "according to a federal official familiar with the policy."

Kinda, but with more of a "Dressage" motif.

>Your to make them.

Your is a possessive pronoun; it is used to show ownership over something.
You're is a contraction of the words you are.

Of course.

But some studies are showing the virus is spreading further than it was assumed via aerosols, not just large droplets.

In other words, it's truly airborne.

Hence why masks are being recommended as an add on to current guidelines.

Glad I was able to snag some P100 respirators with a silicone mask so I don't have to shave my beard.

#13 LOL. We actually tried this. The 32A cups didn't cut it and the 38DD cups couldn't see. Ironically, Jock cups worked better in the coverage less confining department.

I didn't realize P100s were anti-virus effective until now. How often do you have to change the filters to maintain the antivirus rating?

#24 | POSTED BY GALAXIEPETE

They higher rated than N95 and aren't negatively effected by chemicals/oils (P designation).

As for filters I'm looking into that currently. I've read they're supposed to be exchanged, at minimum, every six months as the filters degrade.

Otherwise the only advice I've seen is to change when you can taste or smell vapor, which isn't an issue with this kind of use.

I'm not a scientist, not a doctor, not a biologist. However, reports from China are that only when face masks were required did they finally begin to control the spread of Coronavirus. you can believe anything you want but I am going to listen to those who have actually experienced it in a way we are about to. Wear a mask, if it isn't the right solution then what have you lost? If it is and you don't then what consequences from your inaction are you willing to accept?

Our CDC is garbage and initially told us masks don't help even though Korea, China, Japan and Taiwan citizens use them -weird? You may have missed your chance to get a commercially manufactured mask. This site has information on household materials that can be made into masks.

I don't know but I've been told, the masks don't protect the wearer as much as those around them. Slows the spread so to speak. Plus it may be a reminder and promote situational awareness.

Masks have basically become an accessory in Asia. Mostly due to the horrendous pollution.

So it's nothing for them to grab a mask and put it on when they go out.

That's true for surgical masks.

Respirators can filter out the larger droplets.

Brilliant insight from Gracie. The mask doesn't cover your eyes unless you're an idiot so I don't think anyone thought it could protect you from transmission through the eye.

Not a Brix fan in general. BUT this is a partially true statement. They do not 100% prevent it - that doesn't take rocket science to figure out. However there is no doubt they HELP prevent it. If you are still touching your face that's a giant "no sheet Sherlock" path to infection as already outlined to the public for over a month. A mask is going to prevent you from inhaling the droplets expelled by others AND if you are infected it is going to reduce the spread of your droplets.

I am amazed at how many people don't honor social distancing STILL.

I bought this to cover my face and I love it. I don't normally wear this Tapout BS, but for the love of my country, I'll be patriotic right now.

As I am in a position to wear a respirator, quite often, as part of my job, a few words of advice.

Daily use, osha says change once a week, for known hazards. unknown hazards, change after one time. this is for real chemical hazards with immediate life threatening effects. If you taste or smell the vapors I'm making you might get a free trip to the hospital.

Respirators protect *your* air, but dump unfiltered air with every breath. Basically contaminating everyone else with your potentially covid containing droplets.

I owned several as well but I donated them to the hospital when the call went out. One of my friends works there and was telling me about the fit one of her co-workers had when a delivery guy came in wearing one and they couldn't get them. I gave her my stock to take in with her the next day. Especially when she told me another co-worker had conjunctivitis.

Then again I don't have them because I'm a prepper, I have them because of work. If I'm going to be coughing up black crap I want it to be from something I enjoyed, like a cigarette or a bowl not from soot.
