Cardiac patients who cannot be revived at home must be declared dead, according to jarring new orders given to EMS teams in New York. Effective immediately, patients in cardiac arrest will not be transported to a hospital if first responders cannot get a pulse on their own while administering CPR, a new internal memo obtained by ABC News states.

...The FDNY on Thursday issued new orders in response to REMSCO guidelines set forth during the COVID-19 pandemic. The EMS orders pertain to all FDNY EMTs, paramedics and firefighters. The orders apply to adult cardiac arrest patients only (18 years and older) and "if the patient meets criteria for obvious death, do not initiate resuscitation." Every occurrence will also be documented by the department....

I'm sure there's a bed available for Donald when he has his next stroke.

THESE are the people that Trump and his conservative sycophants are killing.

Because they let this get out of control. Because they didn't prepare and have enough PPE. The extra deaths this will lead to land firmly at the incompetent feet of Trump and Republicans.

Yes the poor response from Trump and CONTINUING poor response from Trump in regard to NYC as well as de Blasio and even Cuomo not acting fast enough.

I do get the order. In all fairness if these people are in cardiac arrest there is a VERY slim chance they will be revived at the hospital regardless. Even if they are usually the prognosis is very poor. My CPR trainer provides us with the stats every year. Add on to that I have seen the actual orders in hospitals in Detroit last week. Triage is letting a lot of people die because there are not enough resources. These people are not going to get care at the hospital based on their chances to survive.
