Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

House Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Sunday the House committee formed to oversee the federal response to the coronavirus pandemic will be "forward looking" as opposed to examining what was done in the months leading up to the crisis. "My understanding is that this committee will be forward looking, we are not going to be looking back on what the president may or may not have done back before this crisis hit. The crisis is with us," Clyburn said on CNN's "State of the Union."

James Clyburn is a pathetic dunce. "We are not going to look backwards?" If you don't look at where the mistakes were made in the past you do you think you can intelligently plan for the future.
This nonsense of now just moving forwards without pointing fingers is bull crap.
He may not want to look backwards but the rest of us do want to know what could have been done but what was not done. Oh hell yes we do.

You idiot, this is the Stimulus Spending oversight committee, it has nothing to do with how anyone has responded to this and everything to do with how the money in the CARES Act will be spent.

You thinking that how this money gets spent isn't affected by what has already happened is idiotic. Where are our biggest needs? Oh yeah, you'll have to look backwards to figure stupid crap like that out.

It must hurt both you and your family for you to be this obtuse, this is the Committee that will provide stimulus to the businesses and people hurt most by the pandemic.

You can do your hyperpartisan cheerleading on Schiff's Wayback Machine Committee to your heart's content when he gets going.

Bengaziiii.Bengaziiii!! Backward looking enough for you. Of course they should look back. You think the repubs wouldn't if the shoe was on the other foot? Don't make me laugh.

You think the repubs wouldn't if the shoe was on the other foot?

The republicans would be holding investigation after investigation looking into the past.

That's where conservatives live. In the past.

As for this money. It's all going into Trump's personal bank account and the bank account of his friends.

The fffking idiot can't pass out PPE without making it all about himself.

Everything Trump does is based on how he's feeling at that given moment. His emotions. His mood. The amount of blood coming out of his rear orifice. That's what matters to Trump when he's making decisions.

Clyburn's statement sounds completely sensible to me. This specific committee has one job, and it's to oversee the spending related to the response from the time the bill was passed moving forward.

Whoa, slow down libs. There are plenty of other committees available for investigating Trump's corruption and remarkable ineptitude. Good on Clyburn for staying focused.

His job is important and it is to look forward to build the country back up.

That's enough and he should spend all his time on that.

I agree. His job is to find and prevent all the corruption conservatives intend with this money in the future. Looking back doesn't serve his stated purpose.

We will have other committees to look at and learn from the absolute incompetence and ineptitude of Trump and conservatives from the beginning of this crisis.

The stimulus oversight committee will be more than busy trying to keep Dotard's greasy, fat, orange, stubby fingers off that money. It's not their job to review the response, that will be the task of the actual oversight committee or if Chairman Schiff has his way a 9-11 type commission. As this #Trumpfckup will outstrip the death toll of 9-11 by a factor of at least 50, there MUST be a 9-11 type commission to make sure this doesn't happen again!

Gosh, trump's cult doesn't want anyone to look at how trump handed the beginning of the crisis? Why would that be?

Clyburn is just another "rubber stamp of color", look at how our right-wingers on this site flock to his defense.
