Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, April 06, 2020

The UK prime minister, Boris Johnson, has been moved to an intensive care unit after his condition worsened, Downing Street has said. It is understood Johnson was moved to the intensive care unit just short of an hour and a half ago. The decision was made by his medical team after his condition worsened over the course of Monday. The prime minister is understood to be conscious and to have been moved as a precaution in case he needs ventilation.

It's ironic how Brexit set the stage for UK to weather this storm better than most...

But then Boris screwed up anyway.

I think Trump should drop everything and go visit Boris in his hospital room without wearing a mask.

And then shake his hand, wishing him a speedy and complete recovery.

At least that's what I've heard people are saying....

Dumbass went and visited at least one hospital a month ago, shakes hands with everyone, including COVID-19 patients, brags about it, even says "I shook hands with everybody, you will be pleased to know, and I continue to shake hands," tests positive for COVID-19, and ends up having to go in for more tests because his COVID-19 symptoms aren't going away.

Who knows how many people he made sick with his "continue to shake hands" arrogance? Those in the hospital that day, and before he became symptomatic and bothered to get tested?

Gawd blessed Boris with the virus.

Gawd bless all Deplorables. Gawd werks in mysterious ways.

But if you pay attention it's not so mysterious at all.

This is not what you want to see in a person who was admitted to the hospital for ~routine tests and observation.~

Who is running the English government now?

I hope Boris recovers. He has an unborn child.

Having said that, I'm more concerned with 10,000 dead in this country. Let's bring that headline back.

For the time being at least, Dominic Raab.

Quick overview of him:

www.businessinsider.com

Quote from article:

"The news that Raab would deputize for Johnson was received like "a cup of cold sick" by his cabinet rivals, according to one report." Nice.

Intensive Care. The ICU. Is that where they can fix him? Cuz judging by his history, he needs a lot of fixing.

Word is he's on a respirator. I don't agree with much of his politics, but I wish him a full recovery.

The thing with British politics that I find fascinating, there is no constitution. Because of that, there is no line of succession. If Boris, God forbid, doesn't pull through, there have to be an election with all this going on.

Someone on Twitter just posted Boris passed. Holy -----.

Old Boris might pay the ultimate price for dithering and costing the lives of Britons who didn't have to die, too bad we in the US can't be so lucky, Coronavirus really could MAGA.

Boris gone, Trump mentally incompetent, mired in a personalization feedback loop where negative facts don't need to be dealt with; they need to be branded partisan so they can be dismissed....

This is the darkness before more darkness....

#38 | Posted by tonyroma at 2020-04-06 07:23 PM | Reply

actually I heard that once you are intubated in ICU 70% fatal... so not good odds.

#39 | Posted by RightisTrite at 2020-04-06 07:55 PM | Reply

Just watched a live shot from London where the reporter who had been at the hospital all day was visibly flummoxed that the word from the government was that he was just there as a precaution. Now that they're reporting he's in ICU they're admitting that at the 10 day mark of the COVID infection patients tend to go very fast and that they just wanted to be in position of intubating him in place.

The reporter admitted the tone from the government was much less optimistic as it had been earlier, and many are now questioning whether the government had been downplaying his condition from the start.

It's not looking good, and this has all the hallmarks of the government orchestrating what obviously will be a catastrophic announcement if he indeed has/did pass(ed).

Nobody should be 'reporting' the death of anybody unless and until it is in fact confirmed. Gossip mongering of that type is unacceptable.

#41 | Posted by moder8 at 2020-04-06 08:09 PM | Reply

According to the BBC, as of 6 minutes ago, Boris Johnson has not been reported as having died. He is in intensive care. There is no reporting that he's been intubated.

#41, #42

There was a twitter link in post 35, not any actual report. It was tweeted 4 hours ago, so I fully believe that Boris is indeed alive, but not in good shape at all.

I believe whoever tweeted the rumor jumped to conclusions likely based on a set of facts. It probably is true that the BBC is preparing for the possibility Boris may indeed quickly succumb to Covid. He is at the stage where quick death happens and he isn't getting better, so there's that. I would make sense for media to prepare for a worst case scenario as it would be a history-making occurrence.

I hope to goodness that he pulls through. There are already enough choppy waves blowing through as it is.
