... the president said that Democrats "shouldn't be allowed to win" the election after everything he has done with regard to the pandemic ...
Pres Trump said that???!?!
Trump rebukes ABC's Jonathan Karl, says Democrats 'shouldn't be allowed' to win in November
...The president also said Democrats view his handling of the crisis as a campaign issue, and he vowed not to let it bring down his presidency.
"They want to make Trump look as bad as they can, because they want to try and win an election that they shouldn't be allowed to win, based on the fact we have done a great job," Mr. Trump said. "We had the greatest economy in the world, and I'll do it a second time. We got artificially stopped by a virus that nobody ever thought possible. And we've handled it and we've built a team, and we've built an apparatus that's been unbelievable."...
Aside from the egregious narcissism of Pres Trump viewing the current pandemic that is killing Americans as a re-election problem, I have an issue with his comment.
It is not up to the President of the United States to determine who should and should not be allowed to win any election.
Such a comment is something that I would expect a dictator to say, not the President of the United States.
It is the Constitution that specifies who should and should not be allowed to win a Presidential election.
Once again, Pres Trump shows that he thinks he is above the law, that loyalty should be to him and not to the Constitution.
The really frightening aspect of the above is that Pres trump has filled the White House with people who are afraid to remind him of the Constitution, and are so willing to regularly check him for polyps.
