Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

If, three years ago, President Trump had removed two inspectors general from their posts within a week of each other for overtly self-interested reasons"as he has done over the past few days - it would have been a big scandal. Presidents don't just fire inspectors general for doing their jobs, after all.

In any other administration, this could be deemed as grounds for impeachment, or at least an argument for starting an impeachment inquiry. But Trump is now operating under the assumption, that like the hoped for antibodies that recovered COVID-19 patients will exhibit which will supposedly protect them from a future bout of the virus, that he and his presidency is now carrying some sort of 'antibody' which will protect him from another possible impeachment.

You've got two groups: the first inexplicably supports Trump regardless and the second correctly sees him as an existential threat.

The first group doesn't give a damn about additional scandals, no matter how fierce, and the second group is no longer surprised by any additional criminal thing Trump does.

Sure, unless they are Trump appointed former Fox News commentators who he appoints as IGs:

Chris Murphy @ChrisMurphyCT

This is getting ridiculous.

I'm drafting legislation to give all Inspectors General protected 7 year terms. Sound like a good idea?

I mentioned in another thread that after Trump Congress is going to have to pass a slew of new laws and regulations to keep future presidents from doing what Trump has done.

I think all the IGs should be removed from the Executive Branch and put into the control of the legislative branch since that is their function anyway, to oversee the President's picks. Defined terms seems like a great idea along with IGs only being fireable by Congress, not the President.

One was part of a coup plot, the failed at his job.

After 4 years of fake news and two coup attempts, only the die-hard left cares what the MSM says anymore. Astonishingly.

A member of the first group I mentioned. Not quite ready to die for the Fuhrer but at risk of death by plague anyway along with the rest of us.

Yeah, because misusing the word coup is surely going to make people listen to what you have to say.

Idiot.

#10 Did it work? Ha ha. Hey I heard Mueller secretly worked for Moscow so he dismissed the charges and everything is being thrown out on Flynn and all the others he bankrupted.

It is not a national scandal because:
1. Most people have no idea what the IG even is;
2. Our attention is mostly focused on the Corona Virus; and
3. Most people who do understand the scandal would rather just wait until November to kick Trump out of office.

'cause it is the right thing to do. These people are corrupt.

#13 How are these IGs corrupt? One followed the law when recieving a whistleblower complaint and the other had the job of preventing theft of bailout money.

Enlighten me.

See where you coming from but I restate it like this:

Most people who do understand the scandal want Trump gone this second but have already tried impeachment and seen that the Republicans are not going to oust him even if he does shoot someone on 5th Avenue, so raising another scandal at this moment is pointless.

People like these understand that every second Trump is setting policy as it regards this pandemic, the longer it will go round and round our nation in waves of sickness and death that this nation hasn't seen in over 100 years.

November can't come soon enough.

In these circumstances why can't the GAO be the watchdog over the bailout money?

Trump's unfettered attacks on accountability are a life-and-death crisis for democracy

The government is failing us, safeguards that took two centuries to build have crumbled, and authoritarianism is eyeing this republic like lunch.

President Donald Trump's assault on inspectors general is late-stage corruption. The canary in the coal mine was the government ethics program, which began engaging with the Trump team long before the 2016 election. The general public got it, but too many people in positions of influence missed it.

No, it's blatantly unconstitutional. Members of the executive branch serve at the pleasure of the President. Wow.

#15 | POSTED BY TONYROMA

November will be too late for 15,000 Americans.

They won't make it.

And by November it may be several multiples of that.

30-40,000 or more Americans will be dead by November

Depending on how badly The Grabbenfurher mismanages this pandemic further.

"Why Is Trump's IG Purge Not a National Scandal?"

Give the House some credit. Hearings will start on this once the current Trump created crisis is over.

Of course no one from the Orange Stain's administration will comply with the subpoenas because again they have nothing to hide.

When a Trumpterd says "corrupt" they mean "corrupt and disloyal" to dear leader by exposing all the illegal ---- he is doing.

CNN says trump tried to get Ukraine to help his election. Trump says its fake news.
CNN says coronavirus is a big threat. Trump says its fake news.

Because the Republicans in the Senate and Bill Barr have made it clear that Trump is a King, not a President. He's free to do anything he wants without question.
