Instacart provided shoppers a six-day window on when they might receive their orders, and said because demand was so high, orders would be taken when a shopper was available. Employee should only be allowed into stores. No customers are allowed in to stop the spread of the virus. Push safe pick of purchases or delivery. Delivery people should not be allowed into the stores. There should be separation between people inside the stores and people outside.

The issue is how do deal with scale. In the UK some supermarkets have created premade boxes of groceries for a certain price. That could be done in the US.

Most important is to create separation between people in the store and customers. Keep everyone safe.

So it's not ok to go to the store because you might get sick, but it's ok to pay someone who obviously has no other choice to go to the store for you even though they have the same chance of getting sick.

Some places do that in the US. Imperfect Foods sends me a box each week of preselected groceries. I can go online and modify the selection and add additional items to it. Before covid-19 I rarely ever went to the grocery store. Now I haven't been going at all.

Instacart has been working pretty well. My grandmother sends me a list and I get groceries delivered to her and manage any logistical or item shortages with the person who is on the ground getting groceries. Feels real cool.
