My favorite are the stories about these perennial low number draft picking teams' long history of drafting QB who bust and then 15 minutes on why the current QB pick will be the savior of the team.

Burrow's sweatshirt is glad he's going to Ohio.

What if the season is canceled because of coronavirus? Do the players still get eleventy zillion dollars?

What if no vaccine is ever found and the lockdown goes on indefinitely? Will ESPN and FOX have to show Joe Namath reruns to fulfill their cable contracts?

FFS, who the eff cares! Mass unemployment, many sick and dead, economy in the gutter.
And this? Really?

It's nice to have an escape, E1G1. Thinking about something as inconsequential as football is a respite from the news.

If the labor agreement allows it, every contract signed after this draft will have language to deal with that. Maybe they put the deals on ice and extend them at the end.

Within 18 months or so it will burn through the population and then it becomes a "normal" and potentially fatal incurable disease like, I dunno, lots of kinds of cancer.

I actually love football and hope we can get it going again. But dang, weird times.

This is so lame since it's being done virtually and not in person. What will the players wear for a team hat? A white plastic mixing bowl with the team logo Sharpied on??

Dollars to donuts the Chargers end up starting Herbert after a couple home games in Kronky stadium. Tyrod Taylor will not fill the seats.

I don't think there will be an NFL season.

What will the players wear for a team hat?

Some of the earliest picks were sent the year's official New Era 59Fifty cap. Here's the Jacksonville cap:

I buy these each year for no good reason. Last year included this garish variant:

I'm hoping C.J. Henderson was overcome by emotion when he was selected by the Jaguars and not mortified:

Buccaneers had the one linked below, not surprised to see it remain in stock lol. Allegedly it was some type of throwback to an ancient City of Tampa flag/emblem?

I wouldn't be laughing at them if I had the Dallas defense.

So Dallas will lose games 38-35, still a loss.

You guys should have given up what Seattle wanted for Earl Thomas last year.
He's only one guy but it would be one less gaping hole to fill on that defense.

Wow, what a flex on the other coaches and GMs! My roommate said it looked like he was drafting from a spaceship (he made mention of elysium and billionaires hiding out from COVID19).

Kliff Kingsbury had a nice background as well, though the choice of running a fireplace in 97* Arizona heat is questionable.

Excited for Day 2 of the draft! Should be filled with more trades.
I went to bed around pick 20, but it looked like Day 1 of the NFL virtual draft went off without any major technical glitches.

#36 | Posted by GOnoles92 at 2020-04-24 08:02 AM | Reply

- the Dallas defense.

Ranked 9th in the league last year overall. They've improved the middle of the line and the coaches... however, if they try CB by committee the way they did WR by committee without even trying to replace Byron Jones, they won't be as good. There's still time to get a decent DB.

#37 | Posted by Corky at 2020-04-24 11:02 AM | Reply

I couldn't figure Dallas out last year. They have super duper players but can't seem to play as a team or win any game that is close.

Then they act blase about it.

Mickey Spagnola: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones might have said it best, just minutes after they selected Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb with the 17th pick in the NFL draft:

"If we're going to get it on offense, we need to get it now. Boy, they sure do. Amari Cooper. Michael Gallup. Two 1,000-yard receivers last year. Now the versatile Lamb, can play inside, can play outside. Great catch radius. Can hand him the ball. Anyone want to kick him the ball?

Three-receiver sets will be my base offense. Go ahead and play nickel against me. Dare you. Now I'm coming right at you with Zeke, too, with one less linebacker on the field."

If Lamb is as good as we think he is, my goodness, this might be the best three-man receiving corps the Cowboys have had since . . . well, ever. The stars sure shined on the Cowboys Thursday night.

You mean we get to watch another several hours of college-age football players wearing white headphones and staring at their phones with blank expressions on their faces when they find out they're going to get paid? Followed by an inaudible interview broken up by a terrible Internet connection, background noise of family making dinner and iPhone headset microphones? Oh boy!

#43 | POSTED BY MONTECORE

It's tough to explain away too. Rodgers has said he wants to retire in Green Bay, has 4yrs left on contract, 2yrs of guaranteed money, is only 36 right now. Love will get a 4yr guaranteed, 5th year option contract.

Before the draft Aaron Rodgers told the Pat Mcafee show that they hadn't drafted an offensive weapon in the first round since he's been a starting QB and how great it would be to get a skill position...and his coach and GM trolled him by picking the only position which would frustrate him lol.

Totally different situation than when Brett Farve was flirting with retirement at GB for his last couple years.

The Raiders and Packers are always trading players. Maybe Las Vegas is looking to move Carr and pick up Aaron, LOL.

Packers' offensive weapon upgrades for Aaron Rodgers:

Backup QB
3rd string RB

Green Bay back office is fumbling this draft.
Vegas Oddsmakers had them at 8-8 for the season when I checked earlier this month
