Maybe stop raising and eating farm animals intricately associated with the human influenza virus?

Just a thought.

I realize most people won't give up eggs but giving up pork really isn't asking too much.

Aw crap, bacon too?

Forget it. Enjoy your viruses, humanity.

P.S. lab grown meat solves many problems with industrial scale agriculture.

@#2 ... lab grown meat solves many problems ...

Except for taste.

The only way it seems the lab-grown-meat folk can get any taste in their product is to dump a lot of salt into it.

From the cited article, there is a cold-storage "reservoir" that can last two weeks or so.

So the operative analysis seems to be whether the processing plants can re-open and start refilling the pipeline before the two weeks of cold storage is depleted.

This oughta save some lives.

Rwing nightmare, though, for the future. Hordes of vegetarian Americans with healthcare and universal basic income UBI, bottom up economics, parental leave, work at home jobs, and integrated robotic automation.

Oh, the horror.

#8: Dear Msgt,

You are having a hard time being a civilian? I am thinking you might be missing the weight you used to throw around (apologies to Pink Floyd here).

Best,

Former SSGT and current "DEM" civilian (first and only hitch, and I still cannot stand to around outspoken former lifers)

- on the govt dole

Gov of, by, and for the People doesn't have a "dole", it has safety nets and progressive policies that can handle things like, oh, maybe pandemics and recessions and automation.

But hey, some serfs like to be tinkled down on by their corporate masters.

"Forgiveness is the final form of love."

"Change is the essence of life; be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become."

"The tendency to claim God as an ally for our partisan value and ends is the source of all religious fanaticism. "

"Self-righteousness is the inevitable fruit of simple moral judgments."

"There is no deeper pathos in the spiritual life of man than the cruelty of righteous people. If any one idea dominates the teachings of Jesus, it is his opposition to the self-righteousness of the righteous."

"When economic power desires to be left alone it uses the philosophy of laissez faire to discourage political restraint upon economic freedom. When it wants to make use of the police power of the state to subdue rebellions and discontent in the ranks of its helots, it justifies the use of political coercion and the resulting suppression of liberties by insisting that peace is more precious than freedom and that its only desire is social peace."

I'm surprised nobody's stated the obvious, that many members of the Retort already had "meat shortages" before all this started.
