The Blue Angels and Thunderbirds flew over Philly, and many people who left their homes to watch did not wear masks. Some drove into the city from the suburbs, packed the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and gathered at LOVE Park, despite social distancing guidelines and the city's stay-at-home order.

I just had to go on the roof. They flew directly over my house.

The Trump administration is incapable of thinking through any of the decisions they make. This was entirely predictable by anyone with two functioning brain cells.

Complaining about people watching a flyover in NY, which hasn't even turned off public transit lol.

#4 | Posted by sitzkrieg at 2020-04-29 08:51 AM | Reply

You do realize that some folks HAVE to take public to their essential activity.
No one HAD to see a fly over.

If they're essential, the last thing you're going to do is pack them into a rolling homeless shelter. It's like you're trying to give them Covid.

This isn't the first US jet team flyover during Covid. Other cities didn't have this problem. Just the NE...

Thunderbirds' view of Las Vegas flyover

Thunderbirds April 11, "Vegas flyover to thank healthcare and frontline workers".

More flyovers are scheduled. The entire air show season through July was cancelled for all military acts. They've got funding and nothing else to do.

A lot of civilian performers have been sitting home, so LiveAirshowTV and Show Center Podcast have developed the Socially Distant Airshow that you could watch from home live. It has featured mixed military and civilian live streamed performances as a fundraiser for healthcare workers.

Thanks for the info, I found some footage of folks in LV not social distancing while watching the fly over...

I'm guessing since it's a place run by Cons that the media just didn't cover it this way.

And I still don't see the connection other than being the circus part of the bread and circus.
Last week we got bread, yesterday we got a flying circus.

Definitely. The media goes out of it's way to not cover people that might be Trump voters doing something dumb.

The connection? As in saluting healthcare workers by flying around?

Jet Team schedules and budgets were set last year and then announced at the International Council of Air Shows convention. The entire season through June has been cancelled, but it's in the budget. Military recruiting marketing funds don't end just because we're in a pandemic. Use it or lose it, keep the pilots current, and make "morale" displays in place of show performances.

Weren't supposed to leave your house though, from the Thunderbird-Blue Angel joint statement:

"Residents in these areas will be able to see the flyover from the safety of their home- quarantine and should maintain all social distancing guidelines during this event. They should also refrain from traveling to landmarks, hospitals and gathering in large groups to view the flyover. A detailed flight route will be released on the day prior to the flyover."

Humans are strange creatures. Clever monkeys. But we react to stress in strange ways. The way humans psychologically reacted to this pandemic will be studied for years to come to hopefully better prepare us for the next pandemic.

Or to be able to sell us more Stupid stuff we don't really need.

GracieAmazed thought the flyover would be a good idea.

Most of the military is worthless performance art to improve morale of the timid. Why single out air shows.

Ample space inside for social distancing. I've flown an RC plane in a C-130 before.

Unfortunately the C-130T Fat Albert was retired last May. Their J model replacement wasn't ready for the 2020 season iirc.

LOL!
So is a subway car, if you just don't fill it to capacity.

I must have seen the blues 50 times, (we have a vacation home in Gulf Breeze next to Pensacola.)
They are amazing and worth seeing close up. They are "LOUD" The Pensacola Beach Show parking starts 2 days before the July 4 shows.
Thousands of people crowd the beach. The place to see them is at the P.N.A.S Naval air museum at the runways in the back.
Best place to see them practice is out at Ft.Pickens a civil war fort at the Pass of Pensacola Bay. 2 times a week for an hour and right over your head.

In thees troubling times, what the nation really needs is for people's dogs to be terrified by loud noises.

Chem trails!

They are controlling the weather!

They are controlling our brains!

They are seeding the virus !

They are trying to sterilize blacks! (Wait, they actually did try that never mind sorry to bring it up!)

How about we just put the NYC homeless on buses to Houston.

It's much safer for both cities that way.

How would you propose that "essential workers" get to work?

Did you not see how a single cough can infect an entire airplane cabin? Subway cars are smaller.

Start pedaling. NY is tiny. Traffic has never been lighter, it's a fantastic time to ride. Now your Essential Barista can get to work.
