Four years ago I posted that it was possible the United States wouldn't survive the election of another Failure so soon after George W. Bush.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that, rounding up, there were 159M jobs in the US in February. If we've lost 30M jobs off that total then we are at about 129M. The last time the US reported fewer than 129M jobs was March 1997.

Many of the jobs lost were related to the manufacture, distribution, and sales of stuff people used to buy when they had disposable income. Now we spend our money on rent, food, cable, and gasoline...maybe a little weed and alcohol as well.
