The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump conservative group whose aim is to derail the president's reelection campaign, has unleashed a devastating new ad that aims to be the mirror image of former President Ronald Reagan's famous "Morning in America" ads.

Expect a cease and desist letter or lawsuit threat in the very near future.

Pretty sure it's meant to read "Mourning in America".

"Expect a cease and desist letter or lawsuit threat in the very near future."

On what grounds?

Grounds? He don't need no stinking grounds.

Courts don't look favorably on frivolity Or attornies who waste the courts' time. I watched the ads and didn't see anything actionable.

"They're being mean to me" doesn't cut it.

Their General Counsel will respond better if they have a legal leg to stand on. If there is anything even remotely defamatory that is probably where the demand letter would focus.

He sent a letter to that station airing the COVID ad a few weeks ago on pretty thin grounds.

Reelection must happen, so anything to keep embarrassing ads from airing will be done.

Is The Lincoln Project a straight offshoot of the Log Cabin Republicans?

When will we see Trumpy float the trial balloon that this is a National Emergency and elections should be cancelled?

You know, for like 4 years or so.

donald just shutting TFU would be a quantum leap in that direction.

The ad should be turned into a gif and posted all over social media.

Then tell trampy to ramp his demand letter where the sun don't shine.

This was one of the best, most devastating negative political ads I've ever seen. Targeted at the Reagan voters who remember the "Morning in America" ad he was so famous for. I'm sure Drumpf's attorney will send some nasty letters threatening legal action, but there is nothing untrue or actionable in the ad.

" there is nothing untrue or actionable in the ad."

I didn't think so either.

Trump sets the stage himself for opposition negative advertising every single day he's in office. He has no grounds to complain when it comes back and bites him.

Standard foaming at the mouth notwithstanding.

I don't like that the Dems have set that precedent by cancelling the NY primary.

The ad spurred another tweet storm from the racist orange turd.

"A group of RINO [Republican in name only] Republicans who failed badly 12 years ago, then again 8 years ago, and then got BADLY beaten by me, a political first timer, 4 years ago, have copied (no imagination) the concept of an ad from Ronald Reagan, 'Morning in America', doing everything possible to get even for all of their many failures," Trump tweeted after midnight in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

"You see, these loser types don't care about 252 new Federal Judges, 2 great Supreme Court Justices, a rebuilt military, a protected 2nd Amendment, biggest EVER Tax & Regulation cuts, and much more. I didn't use any of them because they don't know how to win, and their so-called Lincoln Project is a disgrace to Honest Abe.
"I don't know what Kellyanne did to her deranged loser of a husband, Moonface, but it must have been really bad. John Weaver lost big for Kasich (to me). Crazed Rick Wilson lost for Evan "McMuffin" McMullin (to me).

"Steve Schmidt & Reed Galvin lost for John McCain, Romney's campaign manager (?) lost big to "O", & Jennifer Horn got thrown out of the New Hampshire Republican Party. They're all LOSERS, but Abe Lincoln, Republican, is all smiles!"

You can rest easy:

That can't be used as a precedent because it's a states right to set their own dates.

The dates for the General, however, are carved in stone in the U.S. Constitution. Regardless of any effort by Trump to delay or alter the federal election in any manner, (short of a Constitutional Convention to amend/replace the Constitution), without the election on the Tuesday next after the first Monday in November, Trump and Pence are officially no longer President and Vice President
of the United States as of noon January 21, 2021.

After that, it get's really complicated because so many members of both houses of Congress are up for re-election themselves.

Look up "VOX - Can Trump cancel the November election? The answer is NO!

Then emoluments clause is also carved in stone in the constitution and we all see how well that works

Makes no difference.

He's always used litigation as a tool to beat opponents. Either by lucky wins or attrition.

The Constitution only works if those in government are willing to enforce it.

The GOP has shown they're more than willing not to if it means more power for them.

Trump has shown that he can and will use any reason to do what he wants. "But the Dems did it in NY" is sure to be a reasoning if it comes down to it.

"Trump has shown that he can and will use any reason to do what he wants. "But the Dems did it in NY" is sure to be a reasoning if it comes down to it."

Of course he will. But it's a bluff. As long as we still have a Supreme Court, regardless of how biased, lawsuits are an exercise in futility. There is no ambiguity to be interpreted.

Also, if there is no election on the prescribed date, the office of the President officially and automatically reverts to a pro tem. Which might even be or could be Nancy Pelosi or some senior member of the Senate.

There are very good reasons why no other president, regardless of how power hungry, has gone this route. It's very ill-advised. Once they become private citizens at 12:00 noon on January 21st they don't even have a DOJ at their disposal to plead their case. Nearly all presidential powers revert to the pro tem, with a few exceptions (like declaring war, for example)

I remember when Dick Cheney refused to vacate his office after Obama was elected. They had to call in the Capitol Police.

"Can't say I remember that."

You're probably justified. Upon reflection I believe it was just the THREAT to involve the Capitol Police that finally got Cheney to vacate his V.P. Office. He was really, really angry.

Rick Wilson @TheRickWilson

The absolutely hysterical, hair-tearing, manic reaction by Trump's allies and media -------- over "Mourning In America" tells us one thing:

Hit him again.

Hit him harder.

Never back off the throttle.
