Trump administration officials are telling members and staff of the coronavirus task force that the White House plans to wind down the operation in coming weeks despite growing evidence that the crisis is raging on, Maggie Haberman reports. A top adviser to Vice President Mike Pence who has helped oversee the task force, Olivia Troye, has told senior officials involved in the task force to expect the group to wind down within weeks, a notice echoed by other top White House officials.

Cases are growing by 2 to 4 percent daily, and more than 1,000 people have died each day for over a month.
Sounds like the perfect time to wind down the task force, doesn't it?

If Trump keeps up truly stupid ideas like this, Congress may have to impeach him again before November for refusing to protect American lives along with the grafting of rescue money to his cronies being illuminated in today's whistleblower complaint filed by Dr. Bright.

The virus is blowing up throughout the meat packing industry in rural states and further community spread in disparate areas continues unabated as Trump and company think that no news is good news.

And Trump just got off his plane in Phoenix without wearing a mask, shaking hands as he moves along. Arizona just had its highest daily death total yesterday. What the holy F.

Stupid, criminally stupid, behavior.

"CBS: Just spoke with Dr. Anthony Fauci and he says #coronavirus task force is not winding down. "That's not true, I've been in every task force meeting, and that's not what they are doing." "

Vice President Pence told reporters today that the coronavirus task force created to manage the federal government's response to the pandemic could be disbanded within a month because "of the tremendous progress we've made as a country."

The task force is headed by Pence and made up of officials from the administration, including public health officials who have urged a careful approach to easing social distancing restriction put in place to mitigate the outbreak.

Sorry Gonoles, Fauci is not Pence and he absolutely isn't the White House.

'the pandemic could be disbanded within a month because "of the tremendous progress we've made as a country."'

Donald Trump now sees the existence of a CV Task Force as a drag on his re-election chances.

"of the tremendous progress we've made as a country."'

I must have slept through all of that.

No worries (on the correction/update).
Worries about the danger of disbanding this group way too early, for sure.
With the figures coming in on the deaths... wtf are they thinking

It's not a crisis.

It's only a few hundred people dying every day for the next 18 months or so.

wtf are they thinking

Politics is what they're thinking. Trump actually believes that if he continues to state that the virus isn't actually killing people that the public will happily continue along and fuel the economy, pretty much ignoring the mounting bodies strewn along the way.

These people aren't mentally stable and it's time to recognize that they're indeed playing with millions of lives towards their own twisted ends.

These people are crazy.

Thinking? They're not, so the question must have been rhetorical.

"We need to reopen our country," the president said. "We have a great country. We can't keep it closed."

He said the winding down of the White House coronavirus task force was warranted "because we can't keep our country closed for the next five years."

"The people aren't going to accept it, they don't accept it and they shouldn't accept it," he added.

I'm still pretty sure that the vast majority of Americans aren't going to accept endless thousands of needless deaths for the sake of further enriching business owners like Trump obviously thinks that we will.

Mission Accomplished!

That pesky 3 phase plan requiring 14 days in declines for phase one? That's taking too long. Just ignore it.
What to do with Birx and Fauci?
Disband the task force.

Call this a war to get the economy going, and admit some are just going to have some really bad outcomes. Just don't say "death." We're all soldiers now, and there are going to be losses, but people "shouldn't accept being locked down."

Plus, honestly, this whole coronavirus thing just isn't fun. And the economy sucks. He can't win with that, and he's not having fun having to actually think and do work. Best we just go along with Trump to his happy place, ignore reality, let people die - acceptable losses after all - and get back to work.

He has an election to win, dammit.

Did the task force do anything anyways? They were just decoration for Trump's reelection campaign briefings. It's just washing over the country.

Precisely. Pence wants out ASAP.

Trump cancels the Task Force.

He might as well. They were supposed to be the bobblehead glee club at his daily rants.

A great leader like Trump can't have people behind his back making faces and failing to suppress disbelief like they were doing.

Time to wrap up this Dem hoax. Trumpy is tired of it now.

And now, for the latest news:

"Trump now says coronavirus task force will continue 'indefinitely'"

WASHINGTON " A day after President Donald Trump confirmed that he planned to wind down the White House coronavirus task force, the president announced Wednesday that it will now continue indefinitely.

In a series of tweets, Trump said the task force, led by Vice President Mike Pence, has done a "fantastic job of bringing together vast highly complex resources that have set a high standard for others to follow in the future."

Wonder how many of his deplorables feverishly defended his disbanding it before he changed his mind and left them hanging. Again.

In Dotard's tiny brain, all the talk about the virus, curvs and skyrocketing death count is bad for his reelection chances, so dissolve the task force and people will stop covering the pandemoc, problem solved, no more Coronavirus. He cares not one bit whether Americans live or die, it's all about the election. We are about to try the Swedish model which will make the whole coutry like Northern Italy. Here's hoping it absolutely ravages Cult45 while the blue state governors continue to be responsible by letting science inform their decisions.
