Hours after Doug Ducey, the Republican governor of Arizona, accelerated plans to reopen businesses, saying the state was "headed in the right direction," his administration halted the work of a team of experts projecting it was on a different -- and much grimmer -- course.

This doesn't sound suspicious at all:

The move to sideline academic experts in the middle of the pandemic reflects growing friction between plans to resume economic activity and the analysis of epidemiologists that underscores the dangers of rolling back restrictions. Officials in Arizona said they would rely on "real-time" information, as well as modeling conducted by federal agencies, which is not released publicly.

I suspect Trump and certain GOP governors are going to start massaging the numbers to justify reopening quickly and all the while Trump will be bragging about his great success and criticizing China for their CV cover-up and dishonesty:

Trump and top aides question accuracy of virus death toll

President Trump has complained to advisers about the way coronavirus deaths are being calculated, suggesting the real numbers are actually lower " and a number of his senior aides share this view, according to sources with direct knowledge. What's next: A senior administration official said he expects the president to begin publicly questioning the death toll as it closes in on his predictions for the final death count and damages him politically.

I am no fan of Republicans in general and we've had some questional republican governors in the past, Evan Mechum, Fife Symington, Jan Brewer to mention a few. But I think in general Doug Ducey has walked the fine line pretty well.

Though we vote wrong in the presidential elections we aren't as backwards as people think. We've elected fine democrats governor as well, notably Bruce Babbit, even a guy named Raul Castro.

A special shout out to Senator Kyrsten Sinema, too.

So Gal, don't lump us in with Kentucky Mitchell types ,AZ is okay.

And it was only 106 today.

"During his visit to Arizona on Tuesday, Trump pressed states to pursue aggressive reopening strategies even as he acknowledged "some people will be affected badly."

Affected badly = death. Trump can't even say the words that accurately describe the real affects of his actions and those of Republican Governors who care more about commerce than human life.

The Arizona Republican Party would like to quote you on that when the bodies start piling up again.
