The notoriously independent-minded federal judge who once said he was disgusted by the conduct of Michael Flynn could block the administration's bid to drop criminal charges against the former adviser to President Donald Trump, legal experts said.

There seems to be a dearth of right-wing legal expertise in this thread, compared to so many others on this topic.

I'm sure it's nothing. No worse than the flu, anyway.

Going to prison is just like a holiday. Room and board included with housekeeping.

John Dean @JohnWDean

Let's hope Federal Judge Emmett Sullivan is to Donald Trump what Federal Judge John Sirica was to Richard Nixon! Trump says he learned from Nixon's mistakes. Nixon went down because of the Federal Judiciary.

Flynn still has an ace up his sleeve. A pardon, expunge his record. Trump said he'd like to re-hire Flynn.

Let's just acknowledge that the only thing Barr is doing is protecting Trump from the scrutiny that would follow a Flynn pardon. If the judge actually did deny the DOJ's motion and sentence Flynn, Trump can and still will pardon Flynn. And will anyone be surprised?

Trump can and still will pardon Flynn. And will anyone be surprised?

Nope, but before that happens, the judge can hold hearings where the entirety of Flynn's confessed to criminality gets wider public scrutiny, you know, the things Judge Sullivan already has called Flynn's actions treasonous.

Let Trump tie himself to a man who was being paid by Turkish interests to kidnap and rendition an American citizen so that he could be sent to Turkey without any domestic legal proceedings to be put to death. And Flynn and his son were working on these logistics - along with attempting to influence the US media's view of their target - at the same time Flynn was a member of Trump's presidential campaign.

This is the type of individual that Trump thinks should sit at his right hand as NSA? If Judge Sullivan holds true to form and actively defends the US Constitution, he has the ability to turn le affaire Flynn into a hand grenade that might blow up the right wing's subversion of the Rule of Law in such stark relief voters will be left with no other option than to recognize and hopefully punish their perversions openly and loudly.

At least one can hope.

#7 Do you honestly believe that anyone who likes Trump today, after all we've seen, would care about any of that?
