Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Trump said Friday he didn't wear a face mask while honoring elderly World War II veterans -- just one day after his personal valet tested positive for the coronavirus -- because he was "very far away from them" and "they're so pure, it will never happen."

My wife gasped when she saw Trump do this.

While he is most likely correct, it was an unnecessary risk and only shows what a self-centered ----- Trump is.

"Trump joked that reporters "only worried" about the veterans who participated in the 75th anniversary celebration of WWII victory in Europe"and not him."

Did Trump's dad do anything to help us in WWII? Anyone know? Since apparently that was reason enough to betray the Kurds.

My definition of leadership has among its phrases...

- - - A leader does not give conflicting messages.

The Trump administration has been giving out very conflicting messages about the wearing of masks.

It seems to be more of Pres Trump trying to appeal to his base, and less of Pres Trump trying to promote the safety of Americans.

Trump thinks wearing a mask makes him look weak so it has to be "appeal to his base." It's the same reason he doen't want his west wing staff to wear masks. It's all about imaging.

The rest of us just think "why is that idiot walking around eithout a mask?"

I can't believe this administration paraded these 90 year olds out for a PR stunt in the middle of a pandemic that's killing older people at greater rates than anyone else. It's ridiculous.

@#2 ... While he is most likely correct, it was an unnecessary risk ...

Quite the appropriate comment, imo.

We know little about this virus.

The prudent thing for now is to err on the side of safety.

Granted, two or three months from now, we may know that such safety concerns were too strict.

On the other hand, two or three months from now we may know that such safety concerns were not nearly strt enough.

So the question that needs to be asked is... do you feel lucky? (OK, sorry for channeling Clint Eastwood, but that is such a cool line, I couldn't resist)

And the more important supplemental question ... if you feel lucky, why do you presume that those around you share your optimism?

Time for them to have the ultimate sacrifice, all for Trump's reelection campaign.

"Time for them to have the ultimate sacrifice, all for Trump's reelection campaign."

They do seem to be mesmerized by that Lemming Syndrome.

Punkinhead is concerned that wearing a mask will make him look like a porcine, waddling oldster.

"Plus the wind was blowing so hard in such a direction that if the plague ever reached them, I'd be very surprised." -Trump.

"I never understood the wind" -also Trump

"Trump joked that reporters "only worried" about the veterans "

Trumpy just being Trumpy and showing his lack of respect for our vets again.

The reporters worry because they know that the mask is not used to protect Trump. It's to protect the vets FROM Trump.

The guy is a walking disaster. He is not even as smart as a reporter. No wonder he hates them.

What an ass. The man can't show "weakness". That in itself is a mortal weakness.
