Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

WaPo OpEd: (T)he genuine anxiety of President Trump's team about their workplace underscores an important point. They know what needs to be done for themselves " diagnostic testing, contact tracing and isolating " but Mr. Trump has failed in his duty to provide it for the country. The pandemic response demands a testing regimen that does not yet exist. Weeks ago, Mr. Trump should have embraced this as a uniquely federal responsibility. Instead, he left the job to governors, and the nation is staggering under the consequences.

Mr. Trump and the "liberate" protesters portray a choice between opening and staying locked down, but that is false. Everyone understands the urgency of returning to work, schools, leisure and worship, but it must be done in a way that does not ignite a second wave. Until a vaccine or effective therapy arrives, that means segmenting the population by testing, and isolating and treating those who are sick as much as possible.

We have the technology but not the scale needed to test the whole population. If ever there were a job for the federal government, the singularly most powerful actor we can rely upon, this was it. ... Instead, we are now suffering with piecemeal efforts at diagnostic testing, while more than 20,000 new infections and about 2,000 deaths occur every day. What would it have taken for Mr. Trump to put testing kits in every workplace and school? We will never know, because he didn't try.

Repeating myself once again, Trump is not going to be able to run from the implications of the woeful, self-obsessed, non-scientific responses (and lack thereof) to this viral pandemic.

All one has to do is compare the infections and deaths of Americans proportionally to every other country on the planet and Trump's failure to protect America becomes unmistakably clear.

Why would he run from his superpower? His base eats that ---- like candy.

Watching the $chitt show yesterday he just repeated the lie that people could always get tested over and over and over.

Trump's unnecessary death toll keeps rising and he won't even wear a mask. When he loses, in a landslide, in November he'll probably have a coniption fit. His supporters will likely want a civil war. Worst President in history, bar none!

I think a great American has said it best, an "absolute chaotic disaster".

Fox News personalities have been urging governors to reopen states and telling viewers things like "put freedom before fear" and "herd immunity is our friend." Anyway, they say, the virus is "easing" and will "eventually burn out." Meanwhile, the Fox News offices will remain closed to the vast majority of the network's employees until June 15, CNN's Brian Stelter reports.

A memo from Fox's chief operating officer, John Nallen, extended the network's work-from-home order to June 15, but a source told Stelter: "We were originally told of a potential return to the office in mid-May back in late March, so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't make [the June 15 date] and we push it to late summer."

Currently, a skeleton staff of technical workers and anchors is operating out of the network's New York headquarters. From there, reopening would happen in phases ... whenever it starts.

But in the meantime, Fox News personalities are going to keep calling this a war not in an effort to argue for fighting it more effectively and seriously, but to convince Americans to just accept tens of thousands more deaths.

AlterNet

And we thought Fox News had no shame before the crisis.

"Trump's unnecessary death toll"

So what about all the rest of the deaths around the world? Let's hear how you are going to claim they are unnecessary and why they are Trump's fault. The fact that the deaths are due to a virus, which is something that kills millions of people around the world every year, is just not part of your logic when it comes to being blind because you choose to just be a hateful person, is it? The only real method to preventing deaths goes against our Constitutional rights, so OF COURSE there is going to be a large amount until someone either declares full quarantine or we just move on and accept the deaths. What you and Liberals want is to remove the freedoms this country was founded on. While I agree with the full quarantine side, I still can understand how big of an ask it is to want the POTUS to just ignore our basic freedoms. So I expect the death toll to be high. It's his job to protect those freedoms at all costs just as it his job to protect American lives at all costs. So what happens when the problem at hand is an either/or? Libs, as the party not in the POTUS seat right now, are ignoring all of this and trying to turn this problem into something trivial. And it's NOT. And every time you try to make it out to be, you are forming opinions from something that isn't true. It's pathetic. It's shameful.

It's funny how we lead the world in testing by a huge margin yet Libs still continue to find ways to make it a bad thing. Almost 10 million people tested but, yeah, Trump doesn't want testing to be available. I mean, having hateful opinions based on intelligent thought is one thing...having hateful opinions based on no intelligent thought, or when the evidence is proving you wrong in all ways, only serves to make things worse. Your argument right now is literally concluding that even though America is heads and shoulders above the rest of the world, that's not enough for Liberals who are so freaking spoiled and entitled that we should have not only been better, but we should be God-like compared to other countries. Again, pathetic and shameful.

Could have just stopped there.

"So what about all the rest of the deaths around the world?"

USA is #1 in Coronavirus deaths.
Take a victory lap, you seem to be proud of that fact.

"we should be God-like compared to other countries."

Congratulations, Humtake, you're starting to figure out the problem with our response to coronavirus!
We're supposed to be doing at least as well as Germany and South Korea.
But what's happening is, under Trump, we're a --------- country.

Thanks for reading and understanding.

No matter how much you twist yourself into a pretzel to try and justify it, 100,000 dead Americans due to the negligence of our President and his administration is not a good thing.

Oh dear!

Look at all the "lib glee"!

Thank you for reminding us of how the Trump Crime Family has destroyed our economy.

Fortunately we do have a cure for that.

November is coming. Every Californian will be able to vote by mail if they choose to. Hopefully all the rest of the states will soon follow California's lead.

That is when you will see some "glee".

The only mail in ballot fraud seems to have come from Republicans.

In fact, I think one race had to run all over again because of Republican voter fraud.

Trump's newly-minted Postmaster General will seal his victory in November, one way or the other.

Voting by mail is very safe. Why are Deplorables so scared of a fair election?

Anyway... Are you referring to the very thing republicans were caught doing?

Did you see they were caught? Because it's not as easy as you think to cheat. It republicans would be doing it every election. They know they have to reduce the number of voters somehow to win.

Elections should be easier to vote in. Not harder. If you are insisting on making voting harder then you are definitely a Republican.
