As President Donald Trump spoke at the Rose Garden on Monday about coronavirus testing, a banner behind him made a bold claim: "AMERICA LEADS THE WORLD IN TESTING." That claim, however, is very misleading.

"Nazi theory indeed specifically denies that such a thing as the truth' exists. There is, for instance, no such thing as Science' ... If the Leader says of such and such an event, It never happened'"well, it never happened. If he says that two and two are five"well, two and two are five. This prospect frightens me much more than bombs."

America leads the world in dying from Coronavirus. FACT!

If you factor out the tiny countries like Malta, the USA is pretty far from the top in terms of testing per capita.
Italy and Germany are both 125% or higher than our rate.
We're about on par with Canada.

Meanwhile, South Korea, with only 258 COVID-19 deaths, tests at about a third our rate.
How can they have far fewer deaths and do less testing too?
Because they controlled it from the outset, and Trump chose to let it wash over the country.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw those "AMERICA LEADS THE WORLD IN TESTING" banners hanging on either side of the podium was fmr Pres Bush and the Mission Accomplished banner.

The truth is what Trumpublicans say it is... facts, history, science, and morals be damned.

It's just a brainwashing thing for those incurious slackers who might still be wavering on the cusp of voting for Trump. Trump has been using this gestapo tactic the same way Joseph Goebbles used it to convince Germans to vote against their own best interests.

The message Trump actually wants to deliver is "AMERICA LEADS HE WORLD" which subliminally suggests . . . under his leadership.

The message is weak, of course, and well past it's "sell by" date.

In this case, percentage tested means very little. Just have to actually use logic. If testing is widely available now, two countries can get the same number of tests. If country A has 5k people and country B has a million people, and both are able to produce or buy 1000 test kits within a given time frame, the percentage of people tested is obviously going to be much higher for country A. Since Liberals, especially DR Liberals, refuse to believe it takes time and materials to actually make the kits, then they have to believe that every country has the ability to get the same amount of kits. So, this article then goes directly against the logic that percentage matters. There are times when a story can only be told by picking the right metrics.

Instead of just blindly picking and choosing the numbers you agree with that make your partisan point, why not actually try to use some logic?

Everything Trumpy says is "misleading".

Logic? You obviously haven't a clue what that means.

Percentage tested means EVERYTHING in terms of the virus. Talking about why we don't have enough tests doesn't change that.

But its a cute excuse to say the sole issue is materials. It's definitely not.
