U.K. employers have been told they face prosecution if they fail to comply with rules designed to keep staff safe from coronavirus as they return to work. "Employers have a duty to keep employees safe in the workplace -- that is absolutely enshrined in law," Business Secretary Alok Sharma said at a press briefing from Downing Street on Tuesday.

Not in America they don't.

Actually I believe it is the law in the federal government that government employees be provided a safe working environment or management must provide ppe if engineering is not possible.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Act, also called OSHA, requires employers to provide a safe working environment for employees. I know that the federal government abides by this law even if begrudgingly. And I thought this law also applied to the civilian workforce also.

That is why trump is using the DPA to circumvent the law. It's good for the CEOs.

It's too bad he didn't use the DPA for the public good.

I agree. American's can go without meat for a few weeks. It's not in the constitution thou shall eat meat every day. We would be healthier for it it if people didn't replace it with mountains of carbs. The thing is Trump would be "looking bad" if there wasn't pounds of meat on every table. Frankly if there wasn't excess meat I think a lot of people would take this more seriously. God knows plenty of people are stocked up on beans and rice... I still can't find the stuff that I want in that regard when I am shopping.

And here in the good old USA Republicans want a prohibition against employees suing employers, and not just during the COVID crisis, they want it permanently. Blood sucking fiends. Republican Party is a death cult.

I read stories every single day of employees being told to go find work elsewhere if they want to wear PPE.

Laws are meaningless if the people enforcing them turn a blind eye.

"Texas restaurants that reopened at partial capacity last week have a choice to make: Whether or not their employees should wear masks during the coronavirus pandemic.

One restaurant company landed on a decision that has some employees weighing their safety versus their jobs.

No face masks or face coverings of any kind."

There is no law in America as long as Barr is attorney general and trump is the president.

There is only what trump can get away with.
