The Big Cities Health Coalition (BCHC) released estimates that show that early actions by BCHC members, leaders from America's largest metropolitan health departments, to get the public to stay home led to an estimated 2.1 million hospitalizations avoided and over 200,000 lives saved. These estimates, based on 45-day shelter-in-place/stay-at-home orders, were calculated by the Urban Health Collaborative at Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health using a model published by The New York Times.

Thank you, governors. Some of you. Not Nebraska.

No thanks to you whatsoever, Mr. President.

Orange Adolph should be getting down on his knees and thanking the governors and mayors (overwhelmingly Democratic) for implementing early distancing measures. If we were currently at 300k dead Americans and a still crashing economy, people would be coming for Dotard with pitchforks and torches, instead he just might be re-elected in spite of his massive incompetence!

Yeah, yeah, so what? What's a quarter-million dead people when we've got an economy to run? You people need to look at this as an opportunity. Money doesn't go away; it just moves around in different ways. The funeral INdustree is booming!

Instead of teaching science and other useless left-wing radical garbage, our colleges and universities should be teaching Embalming 101 and Gravedigging, and just let this wash all over us.

OBAMAGATE!

How many people do you think have died from COVID, and why?

1) Who caught them, and can I see?

2) Sure, if EVERY death is presumptive COVID then WHY NOT ten-million hospitalizations?

3) Trumpite Jackass.

"Why not 10 million hospitalizations since hospitals have been caught red-handed listing EVERY death as PRESUMPTIVE COVID-19?"

Link? Probably asking too much or a right wing liar.

The issue has now been so politicized that this study will only be relevant to the choir.

I suspect there will be an *ahem* interesting phenomenon with this study.

It will be bashed in some contexts as a "model" and we all know how unreliable those have been!

It will also be used in other contexts as proof that Trump's response was excellent and saved lives!

Too bad Trumpublicans don't see it as such.

Instead they're raging about the overreaction to COVID.

They'd prefer the dead bodies.

Please note the implied estimated 10% case fatality rate.
