Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Thanks to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, we now know things did indeed look too good to be true. Georgia's coronavirus numbers looked so rosy because officials misrepresented the data in such a way it's difficult to believe it wasn't done on purpose.

With Kemp as governor? Of course it lied.

... and Nebraska has reported that zero inmates had COVID-19.

Of course, after a one of those evil, pesky MSM reporters dug into the data, it was found that Nebraska had tested zero inmates.

If you don't test, you do not know the extent of the infections. Republicans seem to know that.

So the question becomes --- why don't Republicans want those they serve to know the extent of the COVID-19 infections?

As a corollary, I'd also ask why Republicans seem to be so afraid of the First Amendment. But I suspect that may be a different thread...

The real question is where do you get the impression I have a problem with that?

Acknowledging the fact that a public health department intentionally misled the public isn't having a problem with most people getting through it.

In fact, your comment is a rather puzzling non sequitur.

And righties don't think they're idiots...

I don't want people home and unemployed. I also don't want people out spreading a potentially debilitating or lethal disease. That is anything but political, it's based on sound medical information and public health practices.

So you can wrap it all you want in noble sounding language but in the end it's stupidity and greed by ignorant folks like yourself driving all this.

"By this hand may you make it, even if you have to fake it", pure chicanery. They lie about important public health statistics to make things look good when they're not. Big surprise from a governor who cheated his way in as secretary of state overseeing his own election.

The corruption is deep in Georgia.

"LOL....66% of covid positive cases are coming from those who are staying home."

That percentage is interesting close to the percentage of deaths coming from nursing homes. A very large percentage of cases are coming from people who have homes, possibly one member of the family out working and grocery shopping, etc.

My real question though, is why do people like Crassus show up here? He doesn't actually want to discuss things, he really just want to spread right wing talking points. Is he paid or is he so stupid he does it for free. Advice Crassus, there are people who will pay you do do what you do, don't give it away for free. All you have to be is willing to say whatever it is they tell you to say. You'd be perfect for that job.

Ever notice how every time Crassus posts a number, there are the same issues?

1. It's either a nice round number or a perfect fraction, i.e. 1/3.
2. There's no link and no one can find a link.
3. He runs away afterward.

Crassus is a whiny little troll.

What I want is herd immunity as soon as possible. That is only achieved through reaching a certain percentage of the population becoming immune. The faster you reach that number the better it is. We could be like Sweden and spiked our cases.... and our deaths.... early and not closed anything down. Or take our path, which is blow up the economy and still have the same volume of deaths, but spread it out over a longer period of time.

The problem here is ALL of our politicians are cowards. No one wants to be the elected official people can point to and say: "my granny died, and it's your fault!"

The sad reality is, people are going to get sick and die. There is nothing that can really be done. But you can man up and take the punch, or still lose the fight but trash the economy and ram through trillion spending bills that will ensure it stays trashed for decades.

Crassus is so dumb that he doesn't even understand the story.

It's not from people STAYING at home. It's from people who had homes as opposed to those living in nursing facilities or in jail. And ONLY in New York City

#38 | Posted by Sycophant at 2020-05-21 10:54 AM | Reply

"The problem here is ALL of our politicians are cowards. No one wants to be the elected official people can point to and say: "my granny died, and it's your fault!"

It goes beyond that. The politicians are too scared to even acknowledge that most of the population is held at little to no risk. Every last thing that's been demanded of society has been to protect a minute segment of the population, rather than issue guidance allowing that segment to protect itself.

If one person is at risk and shouldn't go to work, then no one who is unessential goes to work.

If one person is at risk and can't safely visit bars/restaurants/stores/whatever, then no one gets to.

Everything that's been done seems to have occurred in order to prevent those who are at risk from feeling like they were not part of the larger group. This is their participation trophy.

#39 | Posted by madbomber at 2020-05-21 01:00 PM | Reply

MadBomber, you clearly do not understand the correlation between social distancing and keeping down the number of people infected (and killed)by the virus. Calling current quarantine and protective measures a "participation trophy" for high risk Americans is just plain ignorant. And it is also insulting to our government leaders who are being responsible enough to keep all of us safe.

That "minute" segment of the population is the most active voting block in the nation, which explains politicians' innate interest in protecting them.

Are you stupid or somethin'?

Come autumn we likely will take your path.

And it's not going to be as rosy as you think it will be.

Question is how big of a hit will the economy take, not will it take a hit.

I'm betting on it being worse than this, both of which are worse than if we had implemented a proper response.
