Parts of mid-Michigan are inundated with floodwaters following a breach at a Tittabawassee River hydroelectric dam long considered a safety hazard by regulators who foresaw a potential calamity.

In the midst of these disasters affecting the good people of Michigan, Pres Trump sends a tweet their way. The tweet expressed no concern or sympathy for those under water in Michigan.

The tweet threatens to cut off funding because Michigan is using mail-in ballots that Pres Trump doesn't like. ( twitter.com )

and the reply fom Michigan... ( twitter.com )

Meanwhile, Pres Trump seems to be impervious to the historic flooding (over six feet of water in some towns).

Just the drama in my part of the world today... There is video of the Edendville dam failing from a small plane. Sanford dam is overtopped but hasn't catastrophically failed as of yet. It's been imminent since last night. Michigan received 4-7 inches of rain between Sunday afternoon and Tuesday morning. We have had rivers running near flood stage for a year now.

Downtown Midland is under about 6-9 feet of water - that is up a small hill from the river. The Saginaw area is seeing the surge as well. The peak is expected to be be about 5' above the record here. That historic record was in 1986 and considered a 100 year flood. I remember that well. The failure is backing up a group of other rivers that were already near historic flood levels as well.

@#2 ... considered a 100 year flood ...

These "100-year" events seem to be occurring an awful lot of late.

There's a huge high pressure system over the northeast that was preventing or slowing down the movement of the rain systems over Michigan

Be safe.

The actual storm this time wasn't considered as bad as 86 but the lakes up there were already pretty much full from the abundant precipitation the past few years. I think the Great lakes are setting new records.

Looks like Pres Trump is finally noticing this disaster...

Trump Sends FEMA to Michigan as Flood Dislocates Thousands

...
City of Midland could be under 9 feet of water, governor says.
Dow, DuPont, Corteva have factories in area industrial park.

President Donald Trump said he's sending federal emergency workers to Midland, Michigan, where dam failures have flooded a Dow Inc. chemical complex and homes in a disaster that may force the evacuation of more than 10,000 people.

After two days of heavy rainfall, water from Lake Wixom breached one dam yesterday evening and then another late at night. That has caused Dow to close its headquarters and the manufacturing complex while the county has evacuated 1,000 people. As water levels continue to rise, the City of Midland expects to evacuate 10,000 more....

But in the process of helping, it looks like he couldn't resist tweeting a dig at Michigan that may not be helpful at all...

We have sent our best Military & @FEMA Teams, already there. Governor must now "set you free" to help. Will be with you soon! t.co
