"One she's a data scientist, she's somebody that's got a degree in journalism, communication and geography. She is not involved in collating any data, she does not have the expertise to do that. She is not an epidemiologist, she is not the chief architect of our web portal, that is another false statement, and what she was doing was she was putting data on the portal, which the scientists didn't believe was valid data," DeSantis said.

A data scientist does 'collate' data, and any data scientist would have that expertise.
Designing and populating a covid dashboard is typically done by data scientists, with epidemiologists focusing on source data, methods and descriptions.

DeSantis said Jones didn't listen to her superiors, saying that is what led to her dismissal. THat is what the data scientist said. Her superiors ordered her to post misleading data and she refused.

That said, I have worked with many IT and data scientists that have a strange sense of entitlement to get paid but not follow orders.

Transparency requires that we know what data was posted, why she and the scientists disagree about its validity and if the current data is correct.

GOP is simply trying to shoot the messenger here, nothing more.

It's barely even worth mentioning that a data scientist collates data every time they write a SQL JOIN command. Either an obvious lie from DeSaints, or pure ignorance; not sure which is more embarrassing.

Character assassination.

Her story must be correct and embarrassing enough for FL GOP for them to expend the resources digging up dirt on her.

LOL. Fantastic. Knew there had to be more to that story.

@#4 ... Knew there had to be more to that story. ...

Yup, I agree.

And the "more" that appears to have surfaced is that the Florida GOP appears to be quite concerned about their burying of data that is not favorable to them.

Why might the Florida GOP be so concerned about a website that is (or was) reporting facts?

What she did with the revenge thing is pretty bad, but the reality of the data needs to be addressed and not forgotten by this character assassination.
