China's rubberstamp parliament has announced that a new national security law in Hong Kong will be on the agenda at its upcoming meeting, a move likely to fuel further anger and protests in the semi-autonomous city.

I (used to before the pandemic) do a lot of business in HK, and this will be incredibly controversial, especially since a vast majority of Hong Kongers believe that the CCP is responsible for covering up the severity of Covid-19.

@#1 ... this will be incredibly controversial ...

I doubt this will be viewed as A Good Thing to those who were rioting last year when China tried to increase its influence/control over HK.

To me, this is a new iteration of that process and it looks like a stronger, more blatant attempt.

Sounds a lot like the power many governors have appropriated for themselves in the name of protecting people.

No this is a central government attempting to override a provincial government after minimizing and covering up Covid.
Exactly like Trump trying to bully states after lying about Covid.

In Chinas defence they did get Covid under control before ordering the serfs back to work.
Trump bungled the covid response, then used propaganda to convince his cultists to risk their lives to help his campaign.

You sir are not much of an American. I guess during the Second World War your family hid their silver, dodged the draft and did not buy war coupons just because that was too much government overreach? Traitor to your fellow American much?
In the Special Forces we use to call guy's like you that did not carry their own weight or owe up to their responsibilities, Buddy Fuc$#$%!

Glad that Der Dotard is ignoring this crisis. Attempting to interfere in international affairs only makes one look like a leader and Agent Orange doesn't want to come off as one tough on China-Ivankas business interests might be at risk...
