Springfield-Greene County Health Department news release:

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is notifying the public of potential exposures from COVID-19 positive individuals.

While symptomatic, our case worked as a hair stylist at the Great Clips at 1864 S. Glenstone Ave. on the following dates:

Tuesday, May 12 (8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)

Wednesday, May 13 (8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.)

Thursday, May 14 (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)

Friday, May 15 (1 p.m. - 6 p.m.)

Saturday, May 16 (8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.)

Sunday, May 17 (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

Tuesday, May 19 (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)

Wednesday, May 20 (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)

The individual and their clients were wearing face coverings. The 84 clients potentially directly exposed will be notified by the Health Department and be offered testing, as will seven coworkers.

It is the hope of the department that because face coverings were worn throughout this exposure timeline, no additional cases will result.

Anyone deemed not to be a close contact during this timeframe but were in this location during those dates and times is believed to be at very low risk.

Who could have possibly predicted something like this might happen. If only someone would have considered that low wage earners might go to work while sick once businesses reopen and their employees have to choose between losing their unemployment and potentially exposing themselves or others to the disease.

Between work and the reported visits to a gym, Dairy Queen and Walmart, this one person may have exposed more people to the virus than the approximately 110 people who have tested positive in the entire county so far. This is the this is the type scenario that protestors and politicians are asking to see play out countless times when they call for reopening non-essential businesses.

What a selfish thing for her to have done, coming to work sick.

It isn't as though everyone in America doesn't know about the symptoms of COVID-19.

If churches go ahead with services that don't employ social distancing AND they include the usual congregational singing, it's almost certain we will see multiple superspreader outbreaks.

The virus is Mother Nature. Trump (nor any human) can defeat or control Mother Nature.

Darling, that is a hair style to die for.

Honestly... there is a pandemic and people whining about their hair cuts... or lack thereof. Gawd bless the self-absorbed citizenry of the USuvA

Sorry... it just seems weird.

Oh wait... I just realized its MO... one of those "let's infect everybody and let God sort it out".

Sorry I can't find it in me to blame the low wage worker. Sure she should have called out and quarantined herself but rent gotta be paid. Did you look at the shifts? 6 days straight 1 day off and then 2 more? That's not the schedule of someone who can take time off work. Add on that she probably just felt a little under the weather at least at first and that's a scenario that plays out thousands of times a week all over the country even with no pandemic going on.

Thank goodness masks were required both for her and her clients.
Let's hope it really makes a difference.

The stylist holds some responsible here but I wonder what other option the stylist had. Would they qualify for sick pay and if so, how difficult does the company make it for them to obtain it. According to comments on glassdoor, Great Clips does not generally offer sick pay. It is not mandatory in Missouri. Since the salons are franchised this person may not have been covered by the Coronavirus aid bill. Based on what I know from friends who have worked for Great Clips, they are ran like fast food restaurants. Employees are held accountable for making sure their shift is covered if they cannot come into work. If they cannot get someone to work for them then they are expected to come in. This stinks of a failure of management/ownership. Did management know this person had recently been traveling and therefore was at great risk of having recently been exposed? Was the salon screening employees before allowing them to work with the public? Did they know this person had symptoms but let them continue to work anyway? Great Clips website is no help. They don't say a single thing about what the company is doing to protect customers. They only seem to push responsibility onto customers by recommending they wear a mask and use the app to check in.

She potentially infected her customers? While she potentially knew she was symptomatic? If so it was Potentially Criminal. At least she wore a mask. That could reduce her liabilities some.

People better wake up. Or they will indeed lose everything. One way or the other.

I don't know if I want to live in a country that doesn't consider ---- bleaching a necessary service.

Lazy millennials. They'll eat it but they have to pay someone else to bleach it.

This really puts a pause on me thinking about scheduling a haircut appointment. My local shop are organizing it so that there is one barber, one customer at a time, with time between appts to sanitize and clean.

Why can't these pathetic Deplorables put their stupid troop-supporting money where their mouths are, and buzz those precious little heads.

Hairstylists are in general contractors even when they work for a chain. They usually rent their booth in non-chains. That said they have the potential to make seriously good money. Not all do but many do.

Lock her up. She's like typhoid Mary. We need better laws regarding sick leave in this country. Paid time off in a pandemic is a no brainer. Still, she knew better. Selfish witch may get multiple people killed by her behavior. People just as dead as if she shot them herself.

If anyone dies she should be charged with manslaughter.

There's a chance that the camera lens used to take that photo warped the depth perception to make the scene look worse than it was in person. I'm hoping for the best for those in MD

On Friday and Saturday, Springfield officials said that two local hairstylists tested positive for coronavirus. Together, they had served 140 customers.

The announcement came just days after city officials announced plans to relax even more distancing requirements and about a week after the health department started seeing an influx of new infections related to travel.

Smart plan!

"We can't make this a regular habit or our capability as a community will be strained and we will have to re-evaluate what things look like going forward." said Health department director Clay Goddard.

Goddard can't keep saying stuff like that.

Second stylist tested positive and worked 5 days with symptoms.

Total of 140 clients now potentially exposed.

We're going to start to see the ugly side of this-customers avoiding businesses where employees spread the virus to customers.

And in doing so we're going to see the short sighted nature of "c-c-conservative" "thought".
