Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Four months after the coronavirus outbreak was declared a global health emergency, countries around the world have seen vastly different results from their efforts to fight the pandemic. Some have beaten an initial onslaught, some are in the middle of it, and some have yet to see, or at least report, that the virus is causing havoc. Factors both in and out of the control of individual countries have influenced their different outcomes so far. Here's a breakdown of some things we've learned:

If only we'd done what Germany and South Korea did and take proper, scientifically-based steps like they did; robust testing and contact tracing.

The lost month got us in this mess. The bungled response, late testing rollout, and now the lack of robust contact tracing is keeping us at the top of the list.

Very sad and needless.

Things opened up a bit in British Columbia right after the long weekend, but not very much. I managed to get my tires changed yesterday but could not go into the shop. Some restaurants open for dining but very limited capacity. The plan is to open up a few things, wait a couple of weeks to see what the numbers do, and then either open more or tighten it back up.

People often think that the coronavirus cases and deaths are uniform throughout NY state. They are not. NYC and the counties immediately surrounding it make up the majority of cases in NY state. There are a number of less densely populated counties upstate that have only a handful of deaths due to the virus:

You mean in states that have the highest urban population, highest population density, highest testing counts, and aren't trying to falsify the data?


But now its surging in rural states.
