Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, May 26, 2020

Mary Papenfuss: Fox News commentator Brit Hume on Monday tried to face-mask shame Democratic presidential front-runner Joe Biden. He indicated that Biden doesn't look good wearing one -- as if that's more important than any safety considerations about spreading a virus that has killed nearly 100,000 Americans.

I thought Joe looked extremely cool.

The setting of an unequivocally good public example by the President of the United States should outweigh vanity.

But when it comes to Trump and Fox News, it doesn't.

It is a shame that Mr Hume has so little else to comment on.

I guess the cupboard of Pres Trump compliments is bare.

Republicans are -----.

Now I'm going to have to photoshop that pic of Joe into a Ninja Gaiden video game image. NINJA BIDEN

God, our country is in deep s***. We have reached maximum superficiality.

A hack anchor for a phony news network mocks a genuine attempt at protecting the health of others because it doesn't look faux-brave enough.

The purpose of a mask is NOT to protect yourself, it is to protect OTHERS from you. Not the N45, that is for protecting you as that mask screens out the virus. The common mask is to reduce the vapors and spittle that naturally come from your mouth.

Therefore, it is common courtesy to wear a mask in public places.

It is not a statement on your ability to withstand Covid-19.

I wish I could claim I don't understand why people refuse to wear a mask. That would be simpler.

But it is clear that people don't wear a mask as a political statement that they don't believe in the severity of Covid-10.

The reality is that someone who doesn't wear a mask simply doesn't care about your health.

There is absolutely nothing brave about not wearing a mask. It is not intended to protect YOU.

It simply shows your indifference to OTHERS.

Oh, and then our reality-TV host turned president gives the hack journalist an attaboy.

All of this further strengthening the resolve of the wacko right to continue their cries of hoax and tyranny.

I thought Joe looked great in the mask.

What other scenarios would you prefer folks not wear PPE? Would you go to a surgeon who doesn't wear a mask and gloves? Who is too cool to wash his tools between surgeries?

PPE is good. Use it. Keep yourself and others safe.

Joe is a ninja.

I posted this a while back:

Keep in mind the PURPOSE of wearing a mask is not to protect the wearer (thus going to the "machismo" of the wearer), but to protect others.
So to NOT wear a mask, makes you a selfish douchebag.
Note that President Zero wore eye protection at the mask plant last week. Protecting HIMSELF. If he were truly macho, he wouldn't have worn the eye protection.

I've found it disgustingly funny that that has become an obvious flag of stupid ignorance and selfishness.

"C-c-conservatism" has definitely become a millstone around the neck of America.

@#7 ... it is common courtesy to wear a mask in public places. ...

You have to realize that those who don't wear a mask tend to be in the "my rights don't end where your feelings begin" crowd.

Common courtesy appears to be a foreign concept to them.

This is where the Republican Party is these days.

We should try to pass a law saying everyone has to breath air and sleep at least once a week. They will probably protest that and refuse to do it.

I've pretty much always thought Brit Hume was a pompous ass, now I don't think it, I know it. What a f*****g joke! And some of you still consider his opinions and ever that Fox is news. Pathetic a******s.

So about 70 to 80 percent of Americans wear masks and Trump/GOP chooses to deride them?

That's a choice, I guess.

Ladies seem to like a masked guy. Just saying.

@ #15 Sycophant

Remember when Michelle Obama encouraged people to drink more water and the GOP flipped out?

These people are not well.

This is where the Republican Party is these days.

They didn't even wait until he's elected to revert to their old ridiculous ways.

Suddenly tan suits and dijon mustard will become highly offensive again while they claim to have only marginally supported Trump for four years.

It makes him look weak.

Didn't match his outfit.

I dunno. Just trying to fill the void.

Trump has recommended wearing masks(just before admitting he couldn't be bothered, of course). Melania Trump has urged Americans to wear masks. Even posted a picture of herself wearing one. White house staffers have been wearing masks. The Secret Service. Republicans.

Yet Trump would have his band of fools believe it's totally not cool if one specific person does it.

Don the Con is treating the presidency, and this once-in-a-hundred-year crisis no less, like a teen drama tv series.

rosanne cash
My daughter lives in Nashville & wore her mask to buy groceries. Guy yells at her: Liberal ------!' Back story: she nearly died of H1N1. She was in the ICU for a week, on a ventilator for 3 days. She CANNOT get covid. The ignorance & hatred is so painful. She's trying to survive.

MAGAts are filth.

Rosanne Cash is awesome. She's one of the reasons I never lost hope in country music. Now I've got Gillian Welch, Kacey Musgraves, Shelby Lynne, Jason Isbell, Colter Wall, Wilco (kinda country!), Sturgill Simpson, Steve Earle and a zillion others.

Biden isn't afraid of smearing his rouge.

And now Trump's new Press Secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, "finds it peculiar" that Joe Biden refuses to wear his face mask while at home.

By not wearing a mask when necessary, Trump is dancing on the graves of 100,000 DEAD AMERICANS. By election day, 250,000 or more. MAGA
