Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A viral and incendiary social media accusation against a St. Paul, Minnesota, police officer is false, the police department said in a statement. The situation shows how quickly information can spread on social media, ricocheting around the web and damaging people's reputations, especially in a fast-moving situation like the unrest in the Twin Cities.

He certainly had an interest in stirring the unrest(anarchy?). Cop? Anonymous? Qanon? Antifa? White supremacist?

Will we ever really know?

Cop.

Cop or White Supremacist.

Or both.

He was identified by a cop by his girlfriend. Probably ex girlfriend now.

100% a cop.

Hard to say. You got a video of who started that it?

We have the video of who started this one.

He was NOT a protestor, that much is for certain.

It doesn't even matter who started the looting at Target. What matters is that we have evidence of a Minneapolis police officer acting as an agent provocateur. The umbrella and the professional grade gas mask is evidence as it makes him identifiable from a distance on a rainless day. If you are a protester about to incite some looting you are generally not going to be so conspicuously dressed.

I felt that the black umbrella was a nod to Hong Kong protestors, but likely too intellectual of reference for a looter.

That guy was 100% a cop.

There's also suspicious footage of non rioters starting fires.

This, in my opinion, is just people trying to delegitimize the protests. Change the message from systematic oppression to rioters destroying Minneapolis.

"I felt that the black umbrella was a nod to Hong Kong protestors, but likely too intellectual of reference for a looter."

I suppose there is a greater than zero chance that the umbrella was a nod to Hong Kong protesters but not much greater than zero when taken in context.

The guys ex-wife identified him and the gear he's wearing. Pics at twitter link.

Jacob Pederson of the St. Paul PD is outed as the individual who smashed the windows at AutoZone. Police are posing as protesters burning buildings to portray a false narrative. Another cop needing to be arrested. Sure, looters, too, but this fool has a history. His name pops up before this.

KWRX25, is it appropriate to blame this pig for smashing windows and escalating violence?

Too subtle.

It was the "go" sign, like it was in the Kennedy assassination.

City of Saint Paul Retweeted

Saint Paul Police Department @sppdmn

RUMOR CONTROL ...

We are aware of the social media post that erroneously identifies one of our officers as the person caught on video breaking windows in Minneapolis.

We've seen it. We've looked into it. And it's false.

I think the evidence is pretty strong that outside agitators were mixed in that crowd. Maybe not this guy but some interviews done by Altenet and other web sites found some white supremacist groups who were planning an appearance in Minneapolis.

And as for this guy, It's sad really, that when the St Paul police vouch for him, we are all left still wondering if it might be true still.

I'm not saying i know it was him either way, but if it was, his police department wouldn't exactly be stepping up to admit that.

No doubt all attributed to the African American protesters.

I'm looking for a statement from the black mayor of St Paul, Melvin Carter, who I saw on MSNBC this morning. He spoke eloquently about what his going on in the Twin Cities, but his father was a Minneapolis policeman for many years, so maybe that makes the mayor suspect as well.

And his ex-wife is who? Has she been interviewed somewhere?

I don't dispute that person may be a cop. I don't dispute that person could be Pederson but some anonymous screen shot of a text message isn't proof of anything

I retract my comment to arrest another cop. Should have said "If it's another cop that broke the windows, then yes, another cop to arrest."

If the so-called proof of it being this cop and its false, then he needs a good lawyer to sue.

I couldn't disagree more. The video is EVIDENCE, it clearly shows a single white male committing vandalism crimes - wholly unconnected to the protest over Floyd's death. It may or may not be the person publicly alleged, but since that person has neither been arrested nor detained the only thing he's suffered from at present is possibly being mistakenly identified.

Secondly, just because a person is named as a possible suspect does not give them the right to sue any accuser who makes the allegation in good faith. To my eyes, the two photos bear a stark resemblance to each other even if they are two different people. I don't think anyone is alleging that the video was doctored to make it appear as though the named officer was the one committing vandalism, so if it indeed is a case of mistaken identity just who should be sued anyway?

Allegation in good faith? This is easily solved. Interview the ex.

Looters should be arrested.

Is it worth looting a store defended by an armed owner?

My takeaway is that we're sure it isn't Antifa...because that noble tribe would never engage in such barbaric activity as destroying a business.
