(U)nder President Obama, the Justice Department took on more civil rights investigations of local police departments than his recent predecessors, launching probes into "nearly two dozen police departments, from Baltimore to Ferguson, Missouri to Chicago -- uncovering a wide range of abusive, even racist, police practices." So what happened? Donald Trump took office, Jeff Sessions became attorney general, and in November 2018, the Republican-led Justice Department went in a dramatically different direction.

The Justice Department had been using court-approved consent decrees to create blueprints for changing law enforcement, but [Jeff Sessions] decided to make that far more difficult.

The move means that the decrees, used aggressively by Obama-era Justice Department officials to fight police abuses, will be more difficult to enact. Mr. Sessions had signaled he would pull back on their use soon after he took office when he ordered a review of the existing agreements, including with police departments in Baltimore, Chicago and Ferguson, Mo., enacted amid a national outcry over the deaths of black men at the hands of officers.

The attorney general added at the time that he hadn't actually read the Civil Rights Division's investigative reports on police departments.

It's a reminder that the Justice Department can, with the proper leadership, play a constructive role in holding police departments accountable for abuses. It's also a reminder that election results matter.

This is what Trumpublicans knowingly voted for... it's what they wanted America to be.

The slogan might as well have been MAWA; Make America White Again.

Erasing Obama is how Trump plans to re-writ history to be all about him.

Of course, he could be right. When history writes about the uprising in America it could be all about him ~~ "Trump The Incompetent" and a failed administration.

Trampy knows that facist racist cops are his base. He promised to go easy on them in 2016 in exchange for their support.

Countless rallies with racist cops on stage telling the cops to rough up suspects

Sad to see my hometown is still as racist as when I had left it,
some 20 years ago. But then again, it's always been a highly
segregated town. Everyone knows that east of 30th street and
north of Dodge, is like 80-90% black and poor white, and that
east of 30th, and south of Dodge, is like, 80% Latino and old Italian.
Granted, more non-whites have moved westward over the two decades
since I left and moved east, but still, it is very provincial and
sadly, stuck in it's racist ways. One of the several reasons I left.
It was a nice city, as long as you were white (I am white btw), but
as I grew older, for so many of my friend who were not, I began to
see the city for what it was, a somewhat depressing authoritarian town,
that lacked in imagination, tolerance, and empathy. And like so much of
GOP America, under the delusion that, "everything is fine, as long as
no one is marching in the streets". While nothing could be further
from the truth...

Obama is the reason Trump suffers from ED.

Some people forget that Biden was VP when these things were put in place and he's a good person the put them back in and make them stronger.
