Social distancing has given away to mass protests and that has doctors concerned about the still ongoing pandemic: "It makes me cringe on a number of levels," said Dr. Katie Passaretti, medical director for infection prevention at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. "It's a setup for further spread of COVID," Passaretti added. "It's heartbreaking."

"If you were out protesting last night, you probably need to go get a COVID test this week," said Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms at a news briefing Sunday, "because there's still a pandemic in America that's killing black and brown people at higher numbers."

If you're going to loot, at least stay 6' away from your fellow looter, that what Mr. Floyd would have wanted.

A lot of the protesters wear masks and social distance. But sure, it's not ideal. The country was forced open by Trump anyway. The protesters did the right thing to go out and be counted.

None of those protestors looted as much money as the real estate investors via the second covid bailout. They stole 1.3 million each.

Desperate cognitive dissonance here.

Covid will kill half a million now from the outbreaks.

"Covid will kill half a million now from the outbreaks."

I wish I thought you were wrong, I seriously do. Then as the protesters get infected they will carry it back to their families and everyone else they come in contact with. I think in the age of COVID we need a new way to protest but I do think we need to still be able to protest but we need to figure out a way to do it safely. Perhaps parades of cars with signs might make an impact if they are long enough.

Just more proof of the excellent job our Dear Leader is doing.

Making America Great Again.

Like 1968. Or 1918. Or 1930.

Anyway.

As long as covid 19 doesn't kill a million people two weeks from now (problematic) that will be a success for our Beloved Dear Leader.

No Bruce, each states government is in charge of their reopening procedures.

Disease, check. Civil disorder, check. Mass death, check. Political malfeasance, check. Only thing left to make it all complete is a major shooting war. Trump is winning, at catastrophe.

.. BIGLY!!

Wait till you see the global aftershocks. What seem like little things, what was Malaria funding spent on Covid response, is going to make for a very rough September.

@#11 ... Wait till you see the global aftershocks. ...

I agree that the aftershocks are going to be significant and long-lasting.

Ten years from now we will be looking back at these past couple of weeks, and wonder what the world would be like if only the policeman had not "necked" and killed a docile, handcuffed person.

Corrosive Effects of Tear Gas Could Intensify Coronavirus Pandemic

Tear gas brings temporary misery by stinging eyes and throats. There's also evidence that it may increase the risk of respiratory illness.

In research conducted by the U.S. Army, examiners looked at the impacts of exposure that thousands of Army recruits had to the common riot-control agent known as CS gas or tear gas. The study conducted in the summer of 2012 found that the personnel in a basic training cohort had a substantially high risk of being found to have an acute respiratory illness in the days after exposure than the days before.

The risk increased the more people were exposed, the researchers said.

Sadly that happens all the time. Violence is simmering down and people will get bored and go home soon.

The aftershocks from Covid are going to be incredible, but mostly just statistics in Africa so nobody cares that much.

The pressure has been building up for decades. It got to the point where the ruling elites got tired of pretending they cared about serving the public. The corruption is out in the open for all to see who want to see.

All it needed was a spark.
