Moments before President Trump was scheduled to take the podium to address nationwide protests against police brutality in the wake of George Floyd's death, police officers near the North Lawn of the White House charged at peaceful protesters, throwing tear gas as they aggressively attempted to disperse the crowd.

Using the U.S. military against peaceful protesters, all so he could walk to a church and hold up a bible, which we all know wasn't his?!!

All for a photo op.

Trump's a wannabe dictator.

What any other president would have done (and all have done) is try to calm the nation and speak to ameliorate the anger many feel over the murders of American citizens by racist cops.

Can anyone imagine if this -------- loses in November the amount of irreversible, mean-spirited damage he will do to the people of this nation between then and January? The thought boggles the mind.

This isn't the 1700s; Biden won't be riding his horse to DC from Delaware if he wins. The transition should happen a week from election day.

Donald Trump and a host of all-white aides stage a photo op that requires the tear-gasing of peaceful protesters. The President wields a Bible, a book he is clearly not familiar with.

Pay attention, people, and don't take the bait:

Firing teargas into them is the bait. Trump was hoping that this whole thing would explode in violence while he was on stage, so that he could look tough. He wants the protesters to act in a way that will justify the rhetoric he's trying to apply to this situation.

Episcopal bishop on President Trump: Everything he has said and done is to inflame violence'

"I am the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and was not given even a courtesy call, that they would be clearing [the area] with tear gas so they could use one of our churches as a prop," Budde said.

She excoriated the president for standing in front of the church " its windows boarded up with plywood " holding up a Bible, which Budde said "declares that God is love."

"Everything he has said and done is to inflame violence," Budde of the president. "We need moral leadership, and he's done everything to divide us, and has just used one of the most sacred symbols of the Judeo-Christian tradition."

"This was done in a time of deep hurt and pain in our country, and his action did nothing to help us or to heal us," said Presiding Bishop Michael Curry.

"The bible teaches us that God is love.' Jesus of Nazareth taught, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' The prophet Micah taught that the Lord requires us to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with our God,'" Curry said, calling on Trump and others in power to be moral.

The Episcopal bishop of D.C. diocese is outraged at Trump's actions during a peaceful protest; using tear gas and rubber bullets to clear protesters so he could stage a photo op. The abuse of sacred symbols to justify language and his approach to the concerns of protesters. Outraged at Trump doing something antithetical to Christianity.

He stood on church grounds and didn't pray or acknowledge the concerns of anyone, pray at all for anyone .. not COVID victim's families. No one.

Trump has no use for morals.

He's tasted true power, a form of power which no money can buy, a level of adoration nothing can compare to.

He is a weak and fragile human being, and he will gladly die before parting with it.

Trump's war is just beginning.

Tennessee National Guardsmen put down their shields during peaceful rally at state capitol (in Nashville)

After gathering in the plaza, the crowd then proceeded to the Tennessee State Capitol, where some legislators joined the group.

In a powerful moment, the Tennessee National Guard laid down their shields at the invitation of community activist Justin Jones.

"We want to invite these law enforcement, these troopers to lay down your swords and shields and join us," Jones said. The guards, who were standing in a line in front of the capitol, put their shields on the ground as the crowd cheered.

We shouldn't be shocked now by any of the strongarm tactics coming out of the WH in response to all protests, even peaceful ones.

Several priests were forcibly removed from the Episcopal church where Trump held his photo stunt holding a bible for a prop.

Before Trump's Photo-Op, Police Forcibly Removed Priest From Church Grounds

Rev. Gini Gerbasi, who serves as rector at a neighboring church, said armored police forcibly removed her and other priests from the patio of Saint John's Episcopal Church, shortly before President Trump was photographed in front of Saint John's holding a bible.

#54 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2020-06-03 03:16 AM | Reply

It gets worse:

Back at St. John's, Gerbasi said she was dressed in clerical garb and standing on church grounds as police approached.

"I'm there in my little pink sweater in my collar, my gray hair up in a ponytail, my reading glasses on, and my seminarian who was with me " she got tear gas in her eyes," she said.

Gerbasi said that as she and the seminarian watched, police began to expel people from the church patio.

"The police in their riot gear with their black shields and the whole bit start pushing on to the patio of St. John's Lafayette Square," she said, adding that people around her began crying out in pain, saying they had been shot with nonlethal projectiles.

Gerbasi and others eventually fled the scene, leaving emergency medical supplies behind. By the time she reached K Street several blocks away and checked her phone, Trump was already in front of the church holding a Bible.

I suppose one could say that if the President had even bothered to speak to the church leaders when he stopped by for his photo op.

"Well, he made no statement, Judy. And he didn't come to pray. He didn't come to offer his condolences to the grieving families that are struggling with the weight of loss in this country.

He didn't offer hope or consolation to the nation in search of it. And he said nothing to the officials there about the fire. It was a " there was no conversation whatsoever. It was just simply a symbolic gesture on his part.

And I have to say that even " we are upset about the fire as well, but that is not our primary focus. Our primary focus is the reason behind " the fundamental reasons behind the protests in our country right now."
