Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Mother Jones reporter Dan Friedman noted that the "troops" stationed around the city are in military-style gear, but they lack any sort of insignia. When Friedman asked them who they're with, their answer was the "Department of Justice."

They did not say they are federal "officers". Fed officers work for agencies that have names like FBI, homeland security, etc.

These are private contractors.

Private contractors are unaccountable to the people.

One, two punch:

700 paratroopers issued bayonets' as 82nd Airborne prepares to carry out Operation Themis' at #DCprotests

President Donald Trump's controversial decision to use the United States military against civil rights protesters in Washington, DC could escalate after airborne troops from Fort Bragg were staged outside the capital.

"Aircraft flying over DCA last night in a show of force against #GeorgeFloyd protesters were ordered by President [Trump]--US forces in DC are operating under an official mission: Operation Themis--Greek mythology, Themis = divine law & order," Associated Press correspondent James LaPorta reported Tuesday.

I bet Barr, with is Opus Dei, BS is the one who came up with the term Operation Themis:

It was Barr who gave the order Monday afternoon for law enforcement to clear out the protest before Trump's walk to the church and ahead of Washington's 7 p.m. curfew. Officials said the decision to clear the park was made earlier in the day in response to violence the night before.

Trump also ordered military aircraft to fly above Washington on Monday night as a "show of force," according to two Defense Department officials. They said the U.S. military and National Guard were operating under the mission name "Operation Themis." In Greek mythology, Themis is a titaness of divine law and order, whose symbols are the scales of justice.

In the real world, they use randomly generated names so they don't give away the intent of the Op.

Trump also ordered military aircraft to fly above Washington on Monday night as a "show of force"

"In the real world, they use randomly generated names so they don't give away the intent of the Op."

So, you think Themis was randomly generated? Not many Americans know Greek mythology, so if it wasn't randomly generated, it still won't give away the intent of the op for all intents and purposes.

"Was it the Blue Angels again?"

Not exactly:

Lots of reports in DC of law enforcement using low-flying helicopters to pester protesters into scattering.

They definitely did. There are plenty of videos out there to corroborate.

I saw at least one Lakota and one UH-60 hovering over crowds low enough to hit them with rotor wash. Branches were broken, already broken glass was sent flying.

You are not alone:

You may think it's only a small thing that the military used helicopters to intimidate American civilians in the nation's capital. It's not. A line was crossed tonight. There will be other lines. This is Trump conditioning them to cross those lines.

You really aren't alone:

Those who think our unhinged president's recent mania about a murder two decades ago that never happened represents his moral nadir have missed the lesson of his life: There is no such thing as rock bottom. So, assume that the worst is yet to come. Which implicates national security: Abroad, anti-Americanism sleeps lightly when it sleeps at all, and it is wide-awake as decent people judge our nation's health by the character of those to whom power is entrusted. Watching, too, are indecent people in Beijing and Moscow.

They men pictured in Friedman's tweet are not the same as posted in Angry Staffer's. SORT members have to wear badge identification, which both men in Angry Staffer's tweet clearly show at the top of their vests. Those in Friedman's have no such badges visible.

More guessing:

Jackson Proskow @JProskowGlobal

There are no names or badge numbers visible. There's no clear identification for what agency many of these people work for. If this were any other country we'd likely be talking about them as "paramilitary forces"

Some are wearing uniforms that say "federal officer" - not clear what agency that is.

The DOJ has 213 Tactical Teams. The Obama administration alone spent $138 million on them in just FY2015-2016. During this period the Small Business Administration bought a bunch of military Glock pistols. Fish & Wildlife upgraded their Glocks with silencers. The VA has 3700 officers with military infantry weaponry. Their armament is the same as the Department of Health and Human Services, who keep their gun locker at the National Training Operations Center" in DC.

From 2006-2014, the Fed has spent $1.48 billion on weaponry for 67 different agencies.

A true prepper is nothing like what you see on TV. Prepping is nothing more than an insurance policy against a possible rainy day. Like, you don't expect your house to burn down but, you'll carry homeowner's insurance just in case. You don't expect to be in a car crash but you'll have car insurance. It just makes sense and it's not that big a deal.

I'm get that as the scenario, but it's still not actually clear to me what the guns are preparing them for.

Guns are just part of a complete toolkit. The primary purpose is for harvesting of game for food. Secondary is protection against those that didn't prep and are threatening to harm through unlawful acts those that did. This is why "most" preppers do not broadcast who they are.

Daniel, I appreciate your response.

Can't speak for Willowby's acumen as a hunter, but someone like Docnjo who is 80% disabled, I can't really imagine him hunting.

I firmly believe that for most gun owners, the primary function of guns is to provide emotional support. I know a few people who have bought guns lately, purely out of fear about what the crazy people with guns might do if things come unglued. At best, they might protect themselves from a lone bad actor. But it's not really much of a hedge. The police or any other gang will kill you just the same, since they will send a posse.

It's really no different than the hypothetical little old lady Docnjo keeps referencing, with a secret Derringer in her purse. It gives her a feeling of safety, but that fleeting safety would not withstand the collapse of society.

Raising chickens seems like a better plan to feed yourself if society collapses, but I don't really worry about these kinds of things.

Do these Preppers have vehicles and generators they think they can fuel up after gasoline production ends? A lifetime supply of toothpaste? Seems like if you really want to be a prepper, become a Mormon and live with a bunch of other Mormons. Strength in numbers is the hedge I'd choose.
