Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, June 02, 2020

A massive crowd of protesters ignored the Washington curfew and gathered outside the White House on Tuesday, a day after U.S. Park Police, the Secret Service, the National Guard and other federal law enforcement agencies forcefully and dramatically cleared the area of demonstrators to allow President Donald Trump to visit a riot-damaged church across the street. "It ignited a fire in us," Alondra Pacheco, 20, said of the spectacle Monday, when law enforcement came "at peaceful people just so he could walk across the street."

I am beginning to become most saddened with Pres Trump.

During the campaign of 2016 I knew, indeed I had posted here, about what I thought was his lack of qualification to occupy the Oval Office. (long story, ask if you want, but on a different thread please)

But, did anyone listen to me? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....

OK, that was then, and this is now. Same place, different time.

No hard feelings. We're all Americans.

But I am sure you may excuse me if I have to ask the obvious question...

Why does Pres Trump continually appear to seek to amplify that which divides us, instead of amplifying that which unites us?

That is a serious question. (in bold, no less...)

"Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and her husband were seen in the crowd around 6:30 p.m., the same time federal forces had started using flash-bang grenades, pepper balls and physical force to clear the streets Monday."

Throw a fist up for the good Senator.

Because that's the only hope Trump has of getting (re)lected.

He divides because divided we fall. Divided we elect Trump, an incompetent Russian stooge, who will do more harm to this country than two World Wars that posed an existential risk to this nation.

Trump might get a Trump Towers Moscow out of it though. And the GOP might get some tax cuts for billionaires. So I guess it all works out in the wash.

Because dividing us is the only way the minority of wealthy elite individuals and corporations can stay in control... the donor base has to have the voter base. and they are created by division on social issues since a majority agree on important policy issues; 70-something percent agree on most important policy issues poll after poll.

As long as the right has guns, abortion, race, sex ID, and immigration fear-mongering, they get to stay in power... well, long enough to F things up big time and then let the Dems take the blame for how long that takes to clean up.

They've been doing this same Starve the Beast dance for 40 years now... because it werks.

It's bad enough when stupid rioters damage a church but when the president has his Goons drive away the clergy like cockroaches it is simply intolerable.

@#3 ... He divides because divided we fall. ...

Wow, I have never seen it expressed so succinctly prior to your comment.

I have tried, and failed, to express that same sentiment, but it took paragraphs.

You did it in a short sentence.

"He divides because divided we fall."

How's this for a more hopeful bumper sticker:

He divides because divided we fall. Resist!

or:

Divided we fall, so let's stick together!

Two possible answers.

First, it benefits him. His run and taking on the mantle of POTUS was done for self-serving purposes. Nothing matters except those purposes.

Second, and more plausible I think, is the's being manipulated by people around him. Trump is not a smart man and he's only declined over time. Especially the last three or so years. I'm not saying it's one person who's been a mastermind the entire time. I'm thinking it's been more of an aggregate of greedy, power hungry people who have recognized Trump as the type of weakness necessary to get what they want. The GOP's unwillingness to even consider impeachment only confirmed to them that they were in a good spot and could act very very boldly to further their power.

The supposed patriots (cough BOAZ cough) are responsible for the breaking of this country. Period.

The primary source of hope is that the footage from protests across the nation show much much MUCH greater unity than division.

It's the switch that conveniently flips after dark that is causing the problem.

I think he is disappointed that more MAGAheads aren't showing up to defend him. I really do. I think the MAGAheads are afraid to appear where they are outnumbered... like in the major cities... where most of the population lives. DOH!!

I think Trumplethinskin is inadvertently framing how small the MAGA movement is relative to the overall population.

JPW, there is a 3rd part of the formula, his malignant narcissism. The photo op on Monday was solely in response to the bunkerboy meme that was generated following him hiding in the WH bunker. He just HAD to show his "toughness" by having a massive force clear the streets for him. Cause he is "macho".

We must, indeed, all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.

Notice how Trump is equating the "Fake News Media" and the "Radical "Left with "looters and thugs":

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

So pathetic to watch the Fake News Lamestream Media playing down the gravity and depravity of the Radical Left, looters and thugs, ripping up our Liberal Democrat run (only) cities. It is almost like they are all working together?

I think you're onto something.

At least one of Trump's tweets Monday can be read as an open invitation for his people to take to the streets to defend him.

That none did is wonderful. In the first place it avoided bloodshed.

More importantly, it decreases the chances Donald will try to hold on after he loses in November.

Likewise, I'm opposed to both.

My position is that your methods create the very circumstances you are opposed to.
When government is the cause of those problems, it can't be the cure.

They won't get better until this system of government breaks up into smaller units.
Even then we can't be sure what comes next.

"A believer in non- believe."

The burden of proof is on the one making extraordinary claims of an afterlife. Doubly so when there are so many afterlives to choose from, and they all seem to suspiciously resemble the ideal for each culture they came from. From an outside perspective, it seems that man created gods, not the other way around.

When proving one's own existence is problematic, the burden isn't really all that.

Even the existence of our reality is in question...

Agnostics at least have a firm point. Atheists chose to do exactly what believers do; believe in something they can't prove with current knowledge.

Atheists chose to do exactly what believers do; believe in something they can't prove with current knowledge.

Theists have a problem with logic and reason. If a thing doesn't exist, it cannot be disproved. That's why the burden of proof is always on the one who claims something exists.

Even the existence of our reality is in question...
