57 members of Buffalo police riot response team resign after shoving incident

...Less than 24 hours after a 75-year-old man was pushed to the ground outside City Hall by members of the Buffalo Police Department's Emergency Response Team and a video of the incident during a protest drew widespread condemnation, all 57 members of the team resigned from the unit.

The mass resignation came after members of the team that responds to riots and other crowd control situations, were suspended without pay. Two law enforcement sources confirmed the resignations....

The union representing Buffalo police officers told its rank-and-file members Friday that the union would no longer pay for legal fees to defend police officers related to the protests. The union is upset with the treatment of the two officers who were suspended.

"Our position is these officers were simply following orders from Deputy Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia to clear the square," Evans said. "It doesn't specify clear the square of men, 50 and under or 15 to 40. They were simply doing their job. I don't know how much contact was made. He did slip in my estimation. He fell backwards."...

"Two Buffalo officers charged with felony assault"

Good.

Good. No need for citizens to pay thugs to assault them.

@#3 ... No need for citizens to pay thugs to assault them. ...

I hadn't thought about these police violence incidents from that viewpoint before.

And the police really wonder why there are trust issues...

"He did slip in my estimation. He fell backwards."

These statements, while seemingly technically true, are cover for a deeper lie.

A lie of omission.

He slipped and fell, why?
Because he got pushed by the cops.

He slipped and fell about as much as that Saudi Prince whose rape defense was he slipped and fell and ended up inadvertently penetrating the woman on the couch.

Ah.

So we have a whole lot of little Adolf Eichmanns.

He didn't slip for shht.

He was pushed and stumbled backwards, unable to regain his footing, he fell.

Might as well blame gravity for pulling him to the ground.

Gravity is a hoax. Don't fall for Einstein's lies!
He even admitted it was just a theory.

After the bills start coming due, they'll be begging for their jobs back.

Also, isn't "Buffalo Officers" a little gauche these days?

#11 | Posted by madscientist at 2020-06-07 12:59 AM | Reply

Justified. If they'd seen a citizen doing that, they'd have charged them similarly.

Just because they're cops doesn't give them immunity. Thank goodness for video in phones!

The officers who resigned the Emergency Response Team in response to these 2 yahoos (and thus supporting assaulting civilians) should all be fired.

Actually, it Newton's fault. And speaking of 'bad apples', one of them contributed as well ;-)

#18 I know police unions are strong but do they do the hiring?

I'm sure the officers will jump at it because there are a $h*tload of septagenarians to shove over, fun, fun, fun.

Speaking of gravity, did you see where Trump is now claiming that the 75 year old guy MADE himself fall FASTER than what would have been normal. Trump knows this is true because he heard it on OANN, the same people who still thinks that Hillary is running a secret sex-ring out of the basement of a New York pizza-parlor.
