Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

There's a catch if you want to attend President Donald Trumps first rally since the pandemic: You can't sue the president if you contract the coronavirus while cheering him on. "By attending the Rally, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; BOK Center; ASM Global; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury," reads the waiver which appears on the Trump campaign's website when you sign up for tickets.

"Trump has also faced criticism for holding the rally on June 19, the same day as "Juneteenth," the holiday representing the day slaves were finally freed in 1865. In response, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said, "The African American community is very near and dear to his heart. At these rallies he often shares the great work he has done for minority communities."

Solid response.

About as solid as the excrement I leave in the bottom of the bowl each and every morning while my cat stares up at me in a contorted fetal position, licking his butt hole.

While holding up the full page ad Trump took out in the NYT calling for the death penalty for the Central Park 5, who spent years in prison and were exonerated when the actual perpetrator was apprehended?

Others should be allowed to sue if they catch it from one of the fools who cluster at the dotard's rallies and venture back out into the real world.

No worries.

"Mexico" will pay the hospital bill.

I'm sure the venues hosting the rallies are the ones who demanded this sort of waiver. If it were up to Trump nobody would ever mention Coronavirus.

The usual for Pres Trump.

Bask in the accolades, but accept none of responsibility.

What percentage of these conventioneers is likely to die?

You also have to sign the other waiver that attendance may lead to severe brain damage.

#8 In the nation as a whole we have 115,000 deaths among 2.06 million Covid cases. I am awful at math but i believe that works out to a 5.5% death rate among those who contract the virus.

@#8 ... What percentage of these conventioneers is likely to die? ...

I do not have enough information to make that assessment.

However, I do have enough information to be very concerned about some of the rally-attenders bringing the virus back to their families, friends and coworkers.

In other words, could the close-packed rally become a super-spreader event? What mitigations will be in place to prevent that from happening?

Hopefully, Trump's rallies will CULL some of his loyalists. MAGA

#11 Trump doesn't care. He will just blame any uptick on the protests, despite the fact that the virus spreads much more easily indoors at events like his rallies.

When they sign the waiver they should also be required to put down a deposit to cover burial expenses.

If they wouldn't infect others, I'd say let them rally.

That waiver was signed when they first became Trump supporters.

By asking attendees to sign the waivers, the campaign is basically telling people that they should be willing to become ill, and perhaps even die, for the privilege and honor of seeing Donald Trump live.

Here's an interesting question, will the campaign allow the rally to be simulcast online, for people who are unwilling to risk their health to see Trump live? I suspect that if the rally is covered live by at least one network, which we have to assume will be the case, is there a chance that they will not be able to fill the stadium in Tulsa, or worse yet, the expected attendance is so low that it might have to be cancelled?

But here's the real nightmare scenario. The Tulsa rally is a big 'success' and every seat in the place was filled and people were running around with no face masks and so on. But then, like they're seeing in states which opened-up early and are now showing a big increase in infections and hospitalizations, and where the health experts have linked this to things like all those people who didn't wear masks or observed social distancing over the Memorial Day weekend, what if a week or so after the Tulsa rally, there's a sudden spike in COVID cases in Tulsa and other nearby cites? How does Trump explain that? Worse yet, how does the Republican Party live with it? If this does play out like this and there is a sudden increase in infections and perhaps even deaths, will this be the 'come-to-Jesus moment' for the GOP?

These people are never gonna come to Jesus. After all, what excuse could they possibly give him for their behavior?

Do they get a free Loyalty Oath with each Waiver?

Inquiring minds want to know.
